“Man I do like professional ladies”
It’s how Rose became one of her favourites so I’m personally excited to see her reaction to how Kanaya is honestly the same.

I know u didn’t find your own concrete evidence of June Egbert as a narrative throoughline but maybe there’s Some irony didn’t u say Caliborn in some sense is in denial about being a trans fem person (in the way that caliborn rejects calliope?) and now John is becoming LE or perhaps I’m misremembering
I was hoping that post struck a more ambivalent tone – not ‘concrete evidence’ maybe, but definitely some strong indications of John quietly thinking about role reversal and gender, directed at himself. Not enough to for me to say ‘June is a trans girl’ but definitely enough to say ‘identification as a girl is presented as a viable resolution(/reason?) for John’s ambivalence towards masculinity’. But I’d qualify that by noting that John’s conception of gender is intertwined with notions of power and hierarchy, which… adds some layers to sift through, I guess.
Synthesizing the above linked posts, it would for example become interesting that Vriska 1) manifests shortly after John anxiously polices Rose’s rise to power by “ironically” roleplaying a return to gender norms, 2) asks John if he’s considered growing his hair out (to look more like Vriska), and 3) accuses him with being obsessed with blue girls, a symbol of morbid femininity. What’s more, the Vriska convo takes places in the midst of a great spiral strongly suggests that this conversation involves John reaching within himself (just as Roxy’s walk from the house to the enspiraled Calliope was a metaphor for finding her inner-child, which is part of their trans allegory). But on the other hand ‘obsession with blue girls’ is also a major axis of Jake English’s exploration of the feminine, comorbid with his necrophilia – but I don’t think him dressing up as Lara Croft and showing off his ass makes him a trans girl so much as displays his fascination with being objectified, which Jake strongly associates with femininity. So while it’s strongly indicated that John has issues around the idea of occupying a femininized position (which he, like Jake, associates with death?), and Vriska tends to emerge /following/ disillusionment with his Dad ideal, I still hesitate to commit to the idea of ‘June is a trans girl’ being the only way John’s reconciliation with a notion of femininity can be read.
Though as a qualifier, this is a good point to emphasize that it took the author’s endorsement for me to even properly acknowledge the possibility? Even if we’ve been bouncing around the potential for trans alphas for ages, I never gave serious consideration to this idea until last week? So it’s possible I’m mischaracterizing my own hesitation, even if my argument makes sense to me… though I guess the same thing happened with Roxy, with the potential presented by the epilogues offering a lens that cleared up a lot of my confusions about Openbound…
I’m rambling. Caliborn!
I don’t recall reading Caliborn as a trans girl? I can see how Caliborn’s violent rejection of Calliope could be read as denial (of who he really wants to be), but if you were to flip that and read the murder of Calliope as a direct expression of what he wants, you could just as easily read him as a trans man (which up until recently was how I read Dirk’s hostility towards feminized aspects of himself). But I guess for Caliborn to identify as Calliope would essentially mean Calliope’s predomination? So calling Calliope a trans girl means calling Caliborn a trans girl, and calling Caliborn a trans man means calling Calliope a trans man. I’ve seen people pin it down as one or the other, but I tend to think that the cherubim are far enough removed from humanity that their mapping to human gender dynamics can be pretty flexible.
bro wait did someone on the epilogue writing team really write stridercest what the fuck???
i think it’s still a Rumor, atm, but cephiedvariable made a post about “dont doxx people just because you dont like them” that is like, implicit confirmation that vfromhomestuck/ctset is ipgd who was known for writing 200k words of stridercest and drawing just ludicrous amounts of shock porn
i havent read the stridercest fic because of both self respect and its tough to find but people who have read it said it matches the style of the epilogues and ipgd is one of hussie’s close friends so its like. hardly a rumor
hey my tie i feel like i’ve been following you forever and it’s awesome to see how much your art has evolved over the years
thats a great thing about the internet huh ;;’v’ thanks for sticking around I find it pretty cool to see as well.
