I have no idea if I’m going to finish this but this line from “I Can’t Help But Wonder” has been stuck in my brain for ages because he fucking DID. He literally did. I cannot make animatics because I am not efficient enough at art lmao but I do picture them in my head and this contrast of images is what I picture every time
The themes of Epic are this study in contrasts of what motivates you and what you have to do to achieve what you want and at what level do the ends justify the means and I think it does a very solid job at showcasing that it really depends on the individual situation? Like I know that you could also argue that it doesn’t work as well as it wants to because it feels like it WANTS to pick a side and then doesn’t really succeed but I don’t know if it DOES want to pick a side? Being human is a long series of choices, and we only know the full extent of what options we had in hindsight, even if we’re as smart as Ancient Greek Solid Snake over here.
Anyway I love this guy and I love Epic so I had to draw even though I’m only sort of okay at it lol
Here’s another fusion! This is Golurk and Gengar, and I sort of went with the idea of golems being sealed entities and decided to make a version of Gengar where he was busting out of a seal -- that’s why he’s kind of lopsided and a little more unhinged. I probably could’ve been more creative with the coloring lol but idk I think it works fine since I worked in the red from Gengar’s eyes where the yellow on Golurk originally was? idk I like it lol
More Pokemon drawings for my Randomized Platinum Nuzlocke! As you can see, I’ve been doing my best to use interesting poses and add in some personalization to each drawing~ I’m super proud of all of these!
So as some of you may know, I have a tendency to come up with giant ideas for longform projects I never actually get around to, and this is an illustration of one of those many great and ridiculous ideas.
These are the male and female protagonists of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, in special outfits meant to represent their status as Persona users in the style of Persona 5′s Metaverse system.
Why? Because both games have a similar vibe and take place in Tokyo in a year called 20XX, even though P5 is clearly supposed to take place in 2016 while Cyber Sleuth takes place in a future where virtual reality is a full thing.
Because I played Persona 5 Royal and then moved onto playing the Complete Edition of Cyber Sleuth on Switch, my brain did what it does and said “okay but what if these plots took place at the same time and interacted tho”
And thus, this was born! More details under the cut, so this doesn’t get ridiculously huge on people’s dashes.
These two are twins occupying one role in a story, because normally in Cyber Sleuth you just pick one but I figured it would be more fun to have them be Absolutely Goof Siblings. Thus, their persona is Gemini, and their compatriots have various other horoscope constellations. It works for a variety of reasons, since their general color scheme is yellow (Castor and Pollux are kids of Zeus, so there’s a lightning connection) and they have a duality idea built into them through the actual plot of Cyber Sleuth! So yeah.
I went with trying to combine a Roman sort of style to their normal outfits, and gave them half masks to show that they work together. The chainmail is kind of meant to look like the digital effects that happen in the actual game, but idk if that actually makes sense lol
Gotta Catch ‘Em All! This is some various Pokemon art I’ve done for layouts on my Youtube Videos, though a couple of them have gone unused because of a project I wound up cancelling. The others are all for my current ongoing project, a randomized Platinum Nuzlocke!
There are some other drawings, too, but these are the ones I’m proudest of, so I figured I’d share them all in one big post, especially since I haven’t posted any art in a while.
So I am a strange, strange person whose brain makes connections and crossovers between things I like at all times, and at one point, I was watching Sanders Sides stuff and was like “hey wait isn’t this kind of like Shugo Chara”
AND THUS, AN ART PROJECT WAS BORN
I don’t know if @thatsthat24 or @thejoanglebook know anything about Shugo Chara, but basically, it’s about these kids whose visions of their ideal selves come to life as these little fairies that hatch from decorated eggs, and they can bestow power relating to their origin onto the person who created them. Normally people just have one, but the main character has a whole bunch, and there are a few other people with multiple fairies in the story, so I was like “wait hold on”
The Sides even have their own little designs and color schemes, making the eggs almost trivial to design, and making little chili versions of all our favorite characters was honestly tons of fun!
Yes, I only gave Roman and Virgil colored hair (not including Remus’s little grey highlight), it seemed to fit best to me, I might just be weird lmao
Hope you guys enjoy! I’m not super proud of the background but it does its job lol
So idk if the Sanders Sides fandom cares about seeing my OCs dressed up as all our favorite characters, but since @thatsthat24 is possibly my biggest single person inspiration atm and basically every piece of content he creates appeals to me on a personal level somehow, I felt like having all my characters dress up in outfits correlating to which part of MY OWN personality they all either draw from or represent in my works. If you’re curious about that at all, say, if you noticed how a couple of the characters are doubling up, check under the cut for some character breakdowns! If not, I hope the art is at least good enough for you to enjoy. Catch y’all on the flip side!
Okay, so, my logical thinking is represented by Alison, with the blonde hair, and Marian, with the pink hair. Specifically, Alison is the common sense of the group, and the long-suffering braincell-carrier, whereas Marian is the Giant Babbling Nerd (hopefully that’s fairly clear in the art lmao). Marian is also the one whose temper is closer to Logan’s.
In the settings I tend to use them in, Alison uses light powers and has angel motifs, along with a rapier, and Marian has ice powers.
My passion! My fancifulness! I hesitate to say “my creativity” even though that’s what Roman is specifically aligned with, because my creativity and my fanciful side are not always the same, but that’s neither here nor there. Roman is probably my favorite of the Sanders Sides, and fittingly, Rox and Yuki are probably my two favorite OCs to mess around with. Rox, fitting their fiery hairstyle, is the character that most represents my drive to achieve my hopes and dreams, where Yuki is more the side of things that focuses on the specifics of that, as well as my perfectionism.
Rox is a fire-using brawler, in case that wasn’t obvious, and Yuki is the bard of my group of OCs.
I went more with the “Heart” side of Patton than the “Morality” side, mostly because Patton’s character focus only started to swing back around to focusing on Morality more after I started drawing these. Teresa is the brunette with the slightly ridiculous hairstyle, and she has that aspect of innocence and fun. Nia, the other character, has some of that as well, but she also has the deep emotions, as well as at least somewhat sticking to the moral code thing that’s important to Patton’s character.
I’ll go into Teresa’s powerset in a bit for reasons you’ll see then, but Nia is sort of half-dragon and has lightning powers.
My anxiety! This one was fun because the character on the left is an OC that I use when I need to self-insert without actually having the character know all the information a normal self insert would, so, yes, I cast myself as Virgil, essentially. What can I say, anxiety IS a major factor of my life, though I’ve gradually grow better able to handle it as time has gone on. The other character is Luna, and she’s more aligned with the parts of Virgil that enjoy spreading fear around; basically, she’s the part of me that represents the things I fear. She’s my main antagonistic OC, who thrives on chaos and matches Virgil’s usual aesthetic with ease.
The OC version of me tends to be an archer, though I tend to give myself the ability to copy other people’s powers -- best power ever, in my opinion. Luna, meanwhile, is a blood knight -- literally. Take Chrona from Soul Eater and add in a healthy dash of Final Fantasy Black Knight, and that’s Luna’s powerset in a nutshell.
Deceit! As you can see, both of them are repeats. Luna, as I said, is my main antagonistic OC, and she aligns with at least the version of Deceit that enjoys causing trouble, doesn’t care about empathy much, and also doesn’t like society. Yuki, on the other hand, is more aligned with the parts of Deceit that involve trying to make what needs to happen happen from behind the scenes, and trying to make things go efficiently, if not always... ethically.
And finally. The minute Remus came on screen and sang his song I was like “oh my GOD that is LITERALLY JUST TERESA!”
Because when I said that Teresa embodied Patton’s innocence, I kind of meant the forced innocence we see him struggling with in Moving On, and Teresa’s character arc basically hinges on utterly failing at doing that. Essentially, she’s a walking sign saying “REPRESSION CAN BE VERY BAD INDEED.”
Part of that is because she’s an Actual Literal Eldritch Horror Complete With Tentacle Powers, but that’s because she kind of has Backstory Confluence Syndrome... it makes sense in context...?
