The iconic Nuzlocke challenge has its origins in a webcomic created by Nick Franco in 2010 called Pokémon Ruby: Hard-Mode. The common name of the challenge was derived from a recurring character in the comic, a Nuzleaf styled after John Locke from the TV series Lost.
The run depicted in the comic would fail to complete the game, losing against Champion Steven after a failed attempt to defeat his Metagross using Perish Song. Shown is the ending of the comic.
Pokémon: Hard-Mode would go on to have two continuation series, Fire Red: Hard-Mode and White: Hard-Mode. The latter's most recent update was posted in 2019.

Originally, this page was going to be of Leo killing Lucas, but for some reason, I just really didn't want to draw it. And thus, I procrastinated on it for several months, until I realised I could just... not draw it instead.
I saw an image on Pinterest of a body bag with a cute filter and bow edited on it. I thought it was hilarious, so drew one on Lucas' body bag. My friend told me to keep it, or else. Cosmo put it there!
Leo now has visible cheekbones because I wanted to make him look more like an old man. I fear he looks like a Hazbin Hotel character...
I had to make some very questionable Google searches for this page, and I fear I'm on a list now.
