Paul Caponigro is one of America's foremost landscape photographers and an influential person, and this quote has been embedded in my psyche for reference every time I take on an assignment. Works like an aphrodisiac :)

Subtle difference, but the gravity of the quote is very crucial. As a shutterbug, I have always set the seal on trying to seize portraits, not "pictures" of my subjects.

What's the difference between "portrait" and "picture" one may ask? Well, portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. Pictures, on the other hand, capture the immediate idea of a subject.

My intent has always been to display the likeness, personality and aura of the person. One is a mere fact, other is fact + subjectivity + idiosyncrasies.
