For writer asks: 17!
what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?
“Fuck you, Jinn,” Obi-Wan Kenobi says, voice oddly toneless, faintly prickling yet devoid of anything like ire. “If you cannot take credit for my successes, then you dare not take on my faults, as well.”
😏 very fond of that 'fuck you, Jinn' (sound the abyss, part of one of the first conversations where they actually make some progress with each other)
I also like the opening to Occupational Hazards. it has a rather nice rhythm to it:
The Order had a long and complicated history in Malastare. Neatly situated in the Mid Rim, it was perhaps one of the most highly-trafficked worlds in three sectors, and lay at the crossroads of the galaxy. Home to some of the most famous swoop and pod-race circuits, Malastare played host to both Core- and Rim-Worlders; to Republic and Confederate Senators alike; to successful businessmen, and ‘businessmen’ of a darker stripe, like the Black Sun Vigos.
There were opportunities aplenty for commerce big and small—anyone could find a place in the bustling vaguely-legal corners of Malastarian metropoli.
Escaped slaves, refugees, and freemen. Rich men, poor men, beggar men, thieves.
Jinn checked his wristcomm.
Memory is currently functioning at a surprising low, tho. I think some of the more recent fics have some pretty good stuff in them. I just can't necessarily remember what it is.
hmm. oh here we go! Pudding Cups had a very nice opening, too! Obi-Wan's dramatic entrance was a good one
There were victories to be had, even if they were small: a night’s sleep, a breakfast that he could keep down. A lap or two around the medical ward, leaning on his IV stand. And today, at the end of the second lap, he’d even worked up the appetite for another pudding cup—an entirely new indulgence for him.
So it was rather a surprise when a gurney burst through the ward’s swinging doors, wheeled at breakneck speed by three—no, four—medics.
