He could hardly believe it. He couldn’t believe himself of the treacherous deed he had come to commit.
As night approached with its veil of darkness looming over their heads, doubt had returned to cloud his mind, becoming clearer to him that he had thrust upon himself a task where there was no chance of ever turning back. The bounty had been “cleared”, while the rare glimmer of regard for the Gear had outshone the prejudice that lurked inside the back of his head. This Gear who wished to see the world for what it was (even though it was no exact pretty sight) --who claimed she did not seek the destruction of humankind, and went against Justice’s influence, this, following the dispute he had with government officials in the case where they refused to dispose of black technology--were dreadfully fascinating moments to come across for Ky; and perhaps this sense of dubiety might be his undoing should he loosen his grip on the beliefs he had loyally followed to this day.
Breaking the invisible divide between the two, Ky glanced over to the young woman, albeit hesitantly as they neared his home. Setting up conversation for casual means was an act he had no talent for due to his strict upbringing, however, if it were a word of reassurance then it would certainly be of no harm to tell that she had gained...companions by her side.
“Ahem.” he started, as he turned the knob of the door leading to his abode. “It is great news to know that you now have contact through the Jellyfish Pirates...however, I cannot fully entrust you to their care alone. I hope you understand this is the most practical decision to be made when ensuring your security.”
