She watches the cheery woman leaving the shop with books clutched to her chest, leaning her head down to sniff at the pages so near her. It puts a smile on Ebony’s lips, passion always left a warm feeling in the pit of her stomach. Lack of passion on the other hand – that was different. It’s the reason why she begrudgingly presses her hand against the glass of the door to let herself in, quick to lock it behind her as she entered. “ I know you’re going to close in a minute, decided to do you the favour, ” Is the only explanation she offers the man as heels click against tile. She rests her hands on the edge of the counter, a brow quirked in his direction before she gives the store a scan. “ Has business been that busy lately ? ” A rhetorical question that she leaves hanging in the air for nothing but a brief second before she follows up with another one. This one sharper, her tone heavy with irritation and yet laced with concern as well. “ Too busy to keep yourself sustained ?? ”
As though she’s laid claim to the store, she walks around the counter, only briefly stopping in front of him. Close enough for the scent of floral perfume to waft off her body, close enough for him to see the smallest speck of blood on the corner of cherry painted lips. “ Tired of having to take care of you like this. ” An easy lie that slips rolls off her tongue as she makes her way into the back of the store, expecting him to follow behind her as she exits out the back door. A choked sound echoes off the brick walls around them, and she nears the figure it came from. The slumped body of a young man, back to the store wall, blood trickling down the wound on his neck. She looks at him with disgust as she gestures to her victim losing a fraction of their life with each passing second. She has no remorse, not when all her targets were men with malicious intentions, local criminals.
“ Feed while he’s fresh. Or let me put him out of his misery. ”
