I have not gotten to many 6ths in sentai
I guess I can’t help but compare lupat to toq bc even though they’re very different, toq really succeeded in terms of villain politics... actually I remember something a little sad, zett’s actor quit while saying he wasn’t particularly good anyway... someone please tell zett’s actor that he was really good in toq... I was very touched by his & glitter’s last scene... anyway in contrast ice man doesn’t have a very compelling motive or a very solid connection to anyone... also I feel like lupat was p solidly sunk on developing the reds, while toq spread development more evenly... or, even when not developing them, revealing other additional aspects of their character... toq actually juggled a lot with individual toqgers and folks from shadow line and. of course. the crown jewel. akira’s character arc
I like the new trio saving the old trio but it just really highlights how little the patos are allowed to do... plus there’s no real emotional buildup to it... I think if the other trio had a lot more of a presence throughout the series, either through flashbacks or references, or like. I dunno. setting this up as a 10 person sentai team. or just the other trio working *with* the patos. anyway I know I’ve only seen like 2.5 sentai shows but lupat’s writing def feels... particularly weak & all over the place... it’s a shame because I’m very endeared to the characters, and the premise is really interesting. plus it felt super experimental in terms of... camerawork & direction that really worked in a technical way, imo.
it’s a shame bc they got some interesting folks, especially in the beginning... like the jewelry lady? it would’ve been cool if either side collected some connections. also toq did a good job of showing off different sides of the main characters by focusing on their interactions with a specific civilian... shinken too, though too a lesser degree so far (?)... man actually I didn’t realize until now but you’re right, & it kind of worked against the show. girlfriends army had that one kid & that was good for incentivizing cooperation which, yknow, good for development...
yeah... yeah... you’re right... there’s kogure, hilltop, & jim on the protag side, and they just kinda stop having a presence... and bringing up toqger again, even though wagon wasn’t a character that developed, she was very overtly present... like, supportive? a source of information? sometimes had big sis vibes... also schwarz’s movement through the series was compelling, and glitter’s role was compelling, and noir was compelling... zett had a clear motivation for what he was doing... miss kobayashi please write another sentai
miss komura I didn’t watch the movie I have no idea who jackpot striker is, having him plot relevant in the last episode is kind of,
ok I’m halfway through ep 50 so lupat spoilers but. miss komura the dynamics between the reds are compelling especially considering kairi’s displacing a lot of feelings about his bro onto keiichiro. it makes sense to have parallel character development & get them to meet in the middle. keiichiro becomes less rigid, and offers to help kairi. but... the parallel development of kairi becoming able to ask for & accept help... is what would’ve made this more satisfying... please it’s been an entire season, it’s time, for both teams to come together...
I FORGOT GIRLFRIENDS ARMY GOT SUBBED & FINALLY WATCHED IT.. IT’S SO CUTE... I’m so glad tsukasa and umika get one episode and also a special
