I mean it's too soon for a kiss and i knew it but i wanted it anyway
i think if nothing else this is a good reminder for myself not to consume the things i care about quietly, even though the trajectory of most social media these days encourages it. engagement and word of mouth matters. voltage becoming actively hostile to that engagement over the period they were struggling most financially didn't do them any favors, and that even on their most pr-friendly days they were flat out bad at utilizing their accounts to get people talking about their content certainly didn't help. very few people had any real motivation to interact or discuss releases, so most became silent consumers who are only just now coming out to say "this is important to me" when it's too late for it to matter. it's almost poetry, having watched them create the perfect environment for their downfall in this way.
Edge Case Love's Pursuit: Korin's route impressions!
Since Lovestruck is doomed, I wanted to try the series that was being moved from a standalone app to LS when Voltage USA was decided to disband.
Korin's route first, I didn't have particularly high hopes, but... oh boy, it's such a huge pity that this series never took off.
The premise isn't too crazy, nothing like supernatural Western with ghosts and demons or a conspiracy turned real with time travel and regency era. Quite simple and straightforward, just a crime sci-fi. Which, honestly, is simple enough not to need a lot of exposition so actually that's good and we vaguely know what to expect so can anticipate that things are definitely going to go wrong when it looks like it's starting to go well 🤭
Not that much of romance - because Korin and MC grow closer through the utter chaos happening around MC, they're only starting their more private relationship, but honestly I think it had a good balance of budding romance and suspense.
The plot was really thrilling and the cliffhangers would be devastating if I played along with the releases. That was definitely an aspect I enjoyed and that made the story entertaining.
But honestly I can't say much about Korin herself. She seems a bit generic personality-wise, but one thing that we almost only saw her in professional environment and the plot was left when Korin was about to show a more private side. From the summary LS published, it seems that there was going to be quite a lot of development to Korin's personality and MC was going to get to know her better.
In the end it became a good suspense story with the mystery of a cold case that re-emerged, but a bit less of romance. I'd still recommend S1 as a standalone for the plot itself without bothering with the romance part 😆
Random thought now, also, about naming side characters "Dom", it seems. That's the second Dom.
Anyway, I kind of wish I downloaded the standalone app to read more of this series. Maybe it's available on Apkpure.

...I don't think I can resist this choice
I didn't
He's blushing 🤭 goodness, he's so stupidly adorable when MC suddenly reverses the roles and he gets flustered
Pacified!
