Dalia and her two little munchkin brothers!
I introduce you to
Nkosinathi (Niko) and Lwazi!
Feel Good
Tell me lies
Placate me
whisper to me sweet somethings
That mean nothing in particular ends
Tell me it's alright
And I'll keep fighting on
And on
And on
For as long as you press repeat
On this catchy song
Lead me astray from reason
With your sweet seduction
That promises little but words
Words that I need to quench the thirsty fires in my wounds
That lap up your niceties like water for parched lips.
And thus it is as it is
Like the moments I can't resist
As I sit terminally cancerous
With no cure to wish for
So I hang my hopes on this.
Ignorance gives no bliss
As I'm cursed to know
That caresses cannot rid me of this
Looking back at what has been
And I lead into it
I can't help but hope to fit
And hope to blend into the perfect picture
Please
I pray you paint me with your pointless pleasantries
And polite pageantry
That means no more than plastered band aids on bullet holes
And yet the sentiment still leaves me filled
Make me believe it
Even for a moment
I will not run from it
Running like I thought I would
Running only got me here
Now I seek a new route
It'll be our secret
Just between I and you
Do best the things you do
I need you
To make me feel good...

Unreasonable Doubt
Simple words seldom satisfy
And we sever ties
While telling lies
Telling tales
While telling time
As hands becon seconds fly
Savoring solemn seconds
And stolen moments
Like shifty thieves at night
Rehearsing rites by candle light
Downing drinks with demons
Demons I drink to drown just
Before we shadow fight
I'm a shallow tike
Without half the brights
To see what's before my eyes
And under my nose
Because who knows
What I behold
With the hue of rose-
Tinted spectacles
I'm looking through
When I look at you
And I dare not move
Or remove you from my view
To see what truth
Lies between us two
As though I grew
From the boy I knew
To the man who
A younger me wouldn't
Understand
And whose
Reasoning can't be reasoned through
Because I'm the fool
Who back peddles on short planks
And sank in the bottles he drank
Forgetting my rank
The tool hitting the nail on the head
Reading off the names of those
He ought to have thanked
But instead choked
On those few words
As a matter of fact
Scratch that
Digest and regurgitate that
As vulgarity that you can't take back
So you take turns
Biting your tongues
And so we have earned
The bridges we've burned
We show no sympathy
For curses versed intentionally
Or empathy
For foes and those who meant us injury
A pox on you
And a pox on your pity
Your pitiful please
Fall on deaf ears of an enemy
Left kept eager for animosity
So the lullabies we sing softly
Are the ones we give to coffins
And their inhabitants
That we bid away harshly

Bars
Stuff 2 hundreds in my pocket
Coz the coppers fucking got me
I writing this so I know you got me
Folks behind bars never for-get
And baby girl, you fell in love with a po-et
So you'll never die
In my mind
And it is so set
Don't doubt it for a moment
Just need to know that
You're on the other side when I'm off this
Are you ride or die or are you offish
For me your song rings
From office to dinning hall
Where anything could set off
But I plan to stray off
Coz my goal is to get off
And be back in your arms
Where I can know it's the end of
The nightmares I face
In day and night
And finally knows that it's all right
... If you say so
So I'ma lay low
And wait for your call
Then I'ma head off
Justice may be blind
But I hold you in heart and in mind
Until your gaze locks with mine
(Locked as tight as these bars I'm behind)
Then I'll know I'll be aight
G'night...

Julie Kay
I have no name
I have no face either
Left nostril caked up;
I am a mouth breather
Prometheus to us
Rolling a tight heater
Ashes to dust and thus
I give my words to readers
A cripple with crutch
And mistrust of what's just
And won't touch
Or stroke neither
Cold brews with said few
I call crew
We pray - heathens
We're prey who lay waste
And get wasted
Distasteful
Vacation on space stations and
Stray gayly from stress dayly just
Leave naïvity to disguise itself as peace
Let's meet
And break bread at the table
If we're able to swallow pride on our plates at the feast
Serving up disgust to us as we realise we're Oedipus
Deserving just enough to see these ties a just a noose
This implies this vice to be merely an excuse
A literary devise
Of some kind
Are we blind
To not find
What is clearly in sight
We seek right
We seek light
But find neither
All that's bright
In this life
Should not leave us
Cause we fight
Through this shifty
Existance
Searching desperately
Out for just an instance
Just ONE moment out there
Not a mistake
So the chips will fall as they will
And we'll try to falter the tilt
When we escape all the shame
That we feel
Our cup runs over
As we thirst for our fill
- by Lwazi Molepo
Folding Corners
When I was younger
I used to fold the corners of books
A habit that most hated
But it helped me find my way back
Back to the pages I'd left
Back to the feelings I'd felt
Like bookmarks in hearts
That remind us of "forget-me-nots"
Welcomed plot twists at a coin toss
Embossed through memories
Embraced in sentimentality
Bring the intangible of daydreamed fantasy
To the sunrise of reality
Having us hold hands happily
Swept up in what's happening
Can we
Let our minds
Wonder?
...
Can we stop time and save smiles in stasis?
'Cause nothing more amazes
Than joy dancing across our faces
With little more complex in mind than this moment
And a kiss
Our fears dismissed
As we make believe that we're all that exists
Love letters folded in the form of origami cranes
Folding in on one another, where my mantra becomes your name
Opening to another; I can never be the same
Not when you're the dame that has me tamed
So as I did with books of old
Let me fold the four corners of the globe
So I may again have you to hold

After Hours
Severing my ties
Disrobe what suits me
Shoo away the kicks
Kick back in my pad
Close the gap
Between gully and daper
In the dark
Sitting on soft seat
(illuminate my mind tonight)
Shadows flicker
As the wicker burns
On this candles light
Right dap
Night cap of gin and ice
The candle handles flame
To spark a Camel Light
I'm alone tonight
Again
And that's just right
Gives me time to write
Think I have the right to...
Use the pen to fight back
The back-packing deamons
Latching on to cracks
Like barnacles on a humpbacks
Words are my form of attack
To force them back
So they can again slither into the cracks
And I can kick back and relax
Put on some wax
And fill my lungs
... And drink
With something else that holds me back
