There have been a lot of launches and it makes sense given how much growth the segment’s seen over the past few years. Folks just want more space and utility from their vehicles and you’ve now got more choices than ever before. For the true adventurer though, Toyota’s Land Cruiser is one of the most iconic options. You’ve seen its capabilities trickle into other Toyota crossovers and SUVs and rightfully so. The FJ60 of the 1980s continues to dominate anything in its path. But if you’re looking to switch between rugged terrains and making a grand entrance at one of your favorite restaurants afterwards, the luxury-focused Lexus LX 570 is the perfect option. We gave this a shot in Northern California’s Napa Valley just last month where Lexus invited us out to experience all their flagship vehicles. When it comes to experiences, there’s really nothing else that Lexus prides itself on more. It’s also why California’s wine country made so much sense, given how detail-oriented the region is. Every moment is built around skilled craftsman who are able to create deep emotional connections and memories to last a lifetime. This came to life over and over again during our time in Napa. The hospitality at Carneros Resort and Spa was nothing short of perfect so you immediately see why Lexus chose this as home base. Walk into a Lexus dealership and the expectation is that you’d be getting much of the same. The welcoming approach, the attention to detail in their service, and their ability to anticipate needs and go above and beyond to meet them. The LX 570 is a lot of this. From my experience, it’s built to conquer anything that comes in its path and not every luxury full-size SUV can do that, even if it claims to. And though it’s able to cut through all the elements and isn’t afraid to get dirty, it cleans up pretty well, too. Dirty or clean, the Lexus spindle grille up front alongside satin chrome trimming and LED headlights make their presence felt. Subtle touches like illuminated running boards, a four-zone Climate Concierge, and heated wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel take an effortless approach to luxury. The seating’s spacious and beyond comfortable and come in both a two- or three-row configuration. Other must-have features include wireless charging, a 12.3-inch center display, and a 19-speaker system courtesy of Mark Levinson.
The navigation screen comes with Remote Touch Interface, capability for a three-way split screen, easily-accessible climate and audio controls, Siri-enabled “Eyes Free Mode”, and the Lexus Enform App Suite. And if that’s not enough, the rear seats can get 11.6-inch Rear Seat Entertainment System screens.
The Lexus LX 570 also comes equipped with Lexus’ new Drive Mode Select, allowing drivers to custom-tailor powertrain and suspension responses by simply turning a dial. There’s also an Adaptive Variable System as part of that to ensure comfort on all road surface changes. Plenty of safety features also come standard with the car, including the Lexus Safety System+ – pre-collision detection, lane departure alerts, intelligent high beam lights and a dynamic cruise control – a blind spot monitor, tire-specific pressure monitoring system and more. The Land Cruiser based Lexus SUV gains V8 petrol power.
Lexus has introduced the petrol variant of its flagship LX SUV in India. The LX 570, which will set you back by ₹2.32 crore (ex-showroom), joins the existing LX 450d to expand the SUV’s lineup to two variants.
The petrol engine propelling the LX 570 is a 5.7-litre V8 unit that produces 362bhp of max power 530Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. In this configuration, the LX can sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds, which is 0.9 seconds faster than its diesel counterpart.
