Holden Torana SS, A9X option (LX), 1977 A new LX model arrived in 1976, notable for the addition of a 3-door hatchback variant. Shown here is the SS version, which was the hatchback equivalent of the SL/R 5000. The A9X option added a rear-facing bonnet scoop to facilitate flow-through ventilation of the engine bay. This car would also take Holden to victory on Mount Panorama in 1978 and 1979, in both Touring Car Championship and the Bathurst 1000 races. In the latter of these, the Brock/Richards partnership won by six laps and setting a new lap record on the final lap.
