Sam used his gun to guide his search, stepping carefully into the alleyway and checking every seeable corner in a slow and deliberate pattern. The trail seemed to come to a dead halt with not even so much as a trace of anyone- or anything- to speak of. He could have sworn it had gone this way. A noise caught his attention behind him and Sam whirled around, gun aimed and more than ready to fire.
