          ɪᴛ's ǫᴜɪᴇᴛ ʜᴇʀᴇ. maybe, it’s not the prettiest place to stay in, but the motel is secure as anywhere can be for them. he is content no matter where they land. as long as it’s with her. she makes something in his soul feel so very soothed in ways he doesn’t fully understand. but it makes him lean into her, makes him want to hold onto her  &  never let go. maybe fate bound them together the moment he refused to pull that trigger. it feels like they are stitched together  &  to separate would be to destruction. 

touch is gentle as fingers brush over her skin. umber hues are settled with hers in a moment that would almost seem shattered if he were to speak. instead his hand brushes over her shoulder  &  down her arm. he simply lets himself feel her. lets whatever the contact brings wash over him, embracing her, embracing them.

"you...you love her." it's not a question. understanding jade eyes collide with icy blue, a softness therein that she has yet to reveal to anyone. not since the bombs fell. head cants just a bit, silently vying for his attention. no matter what he is, kyah will stand by him. & if he wills it, she still stand by /her/, too. "if that's the case, you needn't worry about her. ever. I will lay my life down for you, you know that. but I would also give my life for her. I swear it."

          brows pull together a touch when she speaks. his hues find hers and he sees there is nothing but understanding in those emerald orbs. he knows who it is she speaks of and when she continues, he feels a warmth seep into him. she carries an acceptance so few seem capable of, it would seem. ryan’s presence here is not always welcomed. she refused to leave when skaikru came to collect their refugees. it perplexed both sides. perhaps it puzzled him a little too. but he has ceased to question ryan’s loyalty to him. perhaps his fondness of her keeps him from wanting to waste time examining why she finds him worth staying for. he is just grateful she does. 

roan gives a nod to her words. he knows her well. he knows when she gives her word, she means it. and he knows if he tried to protest her willingness to die for him, or for ryan, it would be a futile argument. so instead, must like ryan’s affections, he finds himself simply accepting this. instead he offers a gruff murmured  “  thank you.  ”  gaze shifts away a moment, his eyes turning towards the courtyard where the woman in question is. she’s is surrounded by young seconds. they should probably be practicing but he hasn’t the heart to reprimand either of them. 

“  her life is more precious than anything i’ve known.  ”  icy hues linger a moment before he turns back towards kyah. voice is firmer when she speaks again  “  and so is yours.  ”  he cannot dissuade her from her priorities. its her life to choose who to give it for. but she must know he values her. he has a swarm of royal guards. she will always be more than that. she is family.

        kale’s  breathing  is  ragged.    the  tunnel  suddenly  delve  into  chaos,   people  are  honking,  others  are  shouting.    it’s  a  one  way  tunnel,   3  highway  lanes.    the  next  exit  is  just  outside  the  tunnel.   it’s  one  of  those  big  ones,   dull  lights  barely  illuminating  the  traffic  signs.    did  he  really  think  he  could...   just  get  away?     especially  since  this  time  involved  kyah.    someone’s  shouting  erupted  into  a  scream.    the  man  pulverizing  his  way  through  the  crowd  is  about  6′5″,   looks  like  a  body  builder,   but  still  a  body  builder  shouldn’t  be  able  to  punch  his  way  into  the  hood  of  a  car  &  then  toss  it  to  the  side.   a  person  was  still  inside.    the  mutant  looks  around,   spots  a  woman  petite  in  stature  just  peeking  out  from  around  her  car  door.    he  smiles.    it  hits  kale  like  a  ton  of  bricks:    this  is  one  of  kane’s  men  &  that  girl  is  a  mutant.    she  may  not  even  know  her  goddamn  power  yet.    it  was  becoming  more  clear;    they  blocked  one  exit,   cars  too  confused  to  turn  around. 

                “   -----     i,  uh    [  ...  ]    hey,  kyah?     do  me  a  real  big  favor?    get  that  woman  over  there  out  of  here.    i  don’t  care  how,   just  alive  and  out  of  here.    please.   ”        kale  is  just  so  affectionately  awkward  sometimes,   hands  gripping  the  wheel,   shoulders  shrugging  before  he  just  pushes  his  door  open  &  slides  out.    he  pulls  up  his  hood,  only  so  nobody  knows  the  face  of  the  person  about  to  the  transform.    he  runs  &  by  the  time  he  charges  into  the  mutant,   kale  kane  is  an  8  foot  tall  werewolf.   just  like  that.    NOTHING  SPECIAL.
