god this got buried in my notes skjldfkls BUT YES!!!!! i know that everyone in the hso with us Gets It in a way that people who like -- weren’t active in HS fandom from 2009-2013, specifically people who weren’t fans of Bro Strider, Dad Egbert, and Mom Lalonde, don’t get it. I'm so scared the Zarya comic is going to reveal she's straight. Like, I seriously can't even handle the thought. Like, honestly, as much as bi representation is important (I'm pan btw, if that matters), I'm not into the idea of her liking men at all. Every even slightly butchy female video game character that should AT LEAST be bi or pan ends up being straight because 'lol trope reversal'. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE LITERALLY NO BUTCH LESBIAN CHARACTERS IN VIDEO GAMES. At least not AAA games

All adulting reasons aside (can I please leave them aside?), because the TV my Xbox is currently hooked up to apparently causes some kind of glitch in the first Mass Effect game that makes the unlocking mini-game crash the first time you try it, so I wouldn’t be able to unlock any doors and containers in the early part of a new game, losing that experience (and, in a few instances, dialogue).

Also I have literally a dozen games that are either started or not even that are waiting to be played, and really, I spent the money on these, I really should get even one playthrough of them completed. Then I can reward myself with Mass Effect!

I'm still mad about Nyreen. She's a double-combo Stuffed into the Fridge and Bury Your Gays trope, and the only female Turian in the entire trilogy except for the unnamed one they stuffed into Garrus's friend-date, which is also crap. I still stand by her death being complete bullshit. Nyreen Krandos deserved better. (and then they don't even let me romance her cousin in Andromeda, what the hell Bioware?!)

Nyreen totally deserved better. Because really. 

I spent the whole first run of Omega thinking that we were being set up for a ‘who is the queen of Omega?’ choice, that maybe we were seeing a new rival for the ruler of Omega. Which, my guess, they realized how one-sided it would be as a choice, because even before you get to the subjective nature of Aria versus Nyreen as characters, Nyreen managed to take a fifth-rate mercenary band and make them into the guardians of Omega and a resistance force against Cerberus, while Aria, with all her resources, lost control. But the solution being that they needed to just kill her off? Yeah, total bull.

And seriously, with all the talk of Garrus’s family, we SHOULD have seen his sister. It’d have been a big part of his arc. Hell, if nothing else, SHE should have been the turian we meet on his Citadel date, so that it ACTUALLY. REVOLVES. AROUND. HIM. (I refuse to do that date anymore, because NO. Garrus has no interest in her, it’s Shepard deciding to hook him up). And there’s NO excuse for the fact that it took until the DLC of the third game for us to EVEN GET a female turian in the first place. Like... The very fact that it was pulling teeth to get female aliens that weren’t asari is ludicrous. Even acknowledging the whole ‘building new models takes time and money,’ salarians just needed to have voice actors (not even that - I legit would have accepted that Valern was female, even having the voice of Armin Shimerman). And the turians... What, you can create a whole new species in ME2, but not have a different head for one of the most populous races in your game?

I still want my Tiron Kandros romance too.
