3. Did any of their friends or family want them to get together?

Let’s just say a lot of people in the party saw it coming. Lydia was already a little flirt to begin with so her and Zevran got along swimmingly when he was “recruited”. However, she remained casual in their relationship at first because she was still recovering from the death of Nelaros, whose death affected her deeply because she was looking forward to see her life with him went. But when it looked like she was ready to open her heart to Zevran and decided to give their relationship (or whatever it was) a chance to become serious, all my other Wardens (especially Una, Reva, Sardar), were there to support her and help sort of her feelings out. So near the end of the game when Zevran gives her the earring and finally confesses his love for her, everyone practically hollered out, “FINALLY!”   

4. Who felt romantic feelings first?

Honestly, I think Lydia felt those emotions first and quickly pulled back because she was both surprised how quickly she was falling for Zevran and guilty. The guilt stemmed from her belief that she was “moving on” to fast from Nelaros and was worried she’d dishonor her memory. Of course, after some support and consolation from some of her new friends, she learned to overcome that guilt and embrace this second chance for love with Zevran. 

8. Who gets jealous easier?

Zevran never strikes me as someone who gets jealous easier and neither does Lydia. They’re both flirts and like to tease each other but they know they can trust each other around other beautiful or enticing people who are trying to flirt right back with them. They are both secure in their relationship with each other and know at the end of the night, they’re going home together.

OCtober: Day Nine

Day 9: Something Important to Them

I’m going back to my Dragon Age Ocs now so this time, I’m giving screen time to my Lydia Tabris. I haven’t talked about her for a while as well.

There are two important items Lydia treasures deeply and would be distraught if she were to lose them. The first one is the ring Nelaros offered her when he proposed and she still keeps it to this day, as a reminder of her first love and what she lost on that day. She no longer has his ring around her finger but keeps it tucked in one of her pockets, like a lucky charm of sorts. She doesn’t want to leave it behind because having the ring near feels like Nelaros is still watching over her, even Lydia has moved on and learned to love again.

Her second vital item is the earring Zevran gave her while trying to evade her teasing about his affections for her and what the gift really meant. She didn’t have time until after the Summit and the Blight ended to pierce her ears so she could actually wear Zevran’s gift. The earring can usually be seen on her left ear. Lydia cherishes the first present Zevran ever got her to show how deep his love for her really ran.

Oooh, thank you for this! I decided to go with my Warden Lydia Tabris, because there’s a scene in her origins chapter that would be perfect for this prompt!

When the blade’s hilt reached her palm and her fingers wrapped themselves around the leather and iron handle, the fury she had been saving, storing, and waiting to unleash exploded inside Lydia. Now, all she beheld was red as she cut down guard after guard like stalks of weed, not even registering her cousin Soris was at her side, slaughtering as many humans that stood in their path. She had to get to Shianni and save her, and later, find Nelaros after she escaped this forsaken castle. Once the arl’s putrid son was gutted by her hand, her and the rest of survivors could leave this place of horrors and return home, that is they were allowed. The arl himself might send his own dogs after them to lock those responsible for the castle rampage for good this time. 

Her wedding dress, one of the very few heirlooms her mother had left her, was bloodstained all over the hem, ruby flecks woven into her honey brown tresses, sprinkled amongst the once pristine bodice as well as her arms and knuckles. Her mother would have mourned that her own daughter’s wedding day had marred by a human lordling’s rapacious appetite. 

The human’s flesh bowed to her sword, the wounds sundering to her will as the bodies collapsed and piled high while Lydia made her way to the great hall. How many more were there? What if she was too late for Shianni? What if this whole battle was a ruse, a sick, twisted game concocted by the noble boy who wanted to give her enough hope to believe in escape until she reached her friend, only to discover this all was a trap and they were simply waiting for her arrival so they could deflower her next. 

The door swung open and before her fears could consume her thoughts and spur her rage and worry onward, a crop of blond hair stayed Lydia’s hand. Relief flooded her systems at the sight of Nelaros, alive and well, armed with a stolen sword as well. Like her and Soris, he had survived the battle around them and now, they stood more of a chance in getting out of here with the remaining women. Three swords were always better than two.

“Lydia!” Nelaros cried out, reaching out to touch her sharp, refined face. Her guard relaxing, Lydia strolled forward, ready to cup his cheek or embrace him, his name departing her tongue when his eyes bulged out, a strangled gasp rended from his throat as the tip of a sword protruded out of his chest. Blood oozed out everywhere–his torso, lips, nose, and down his legs too. Soris roared as he beheaded Nelaros’s killer while she screamed out her betrothed’s name over and over, her weapon fallen and temporarily forgotten. Lydia cradled him close, resting Nelaros’s head against her bosom, as if hearing her heartbeat and feeling her touch could save him. There was no chance  for her or Soris’s to staunch the wound in time–it was fatal.

For the first time since the last anniversary of her mother’s death, Lydia openly wept.

Hmm…Lydia. But she persuades Zev to fall asleep with her.

I don’t know. Both, I suppose. Zevran would be a little wary—potential assassins and all.

Zev probably in terms of food he actually enjoys, but Lydia will eat almost anything if it’s put in front of her.

Lydia. Absolutely.

Probably Zev.

Zev, but only slightly more often. They both do.

Lydia. Eventually she picks it up.

Zev. Lydia has never been much of a reader. She was illiterate for most of her life and she still struggles with reading. She does like it when Zev reads aloud to her though.

They both do. But Zevran is much better at it. He probably sings, like, whole Antivan operas.

takes the selfies

Oh my god, both of them. Selfies everywhere. :)

plans date night

Usually Zev. Lydia will sometimes if she has a good idea.

Isabela/Vivian Hawke:

Hawke. Isabela drags her to bed eventually.

Isabela. Hawke is a little more aloof, especially around new people. She prefers to keep to herself.

is the adventurous eater

Isabela, definitely.

Hawke. Isabela doesn’t really mind it, though.

forgets to do the dishes

I imagine Isabela would forget pretty easily. She’s used to the crew on her ship doing stuff like that. Hawke finds doing the dish strangely relaxing, so she does them anyway.

Isabela, naturally. Hawke acts like she hates surprises, but she doesn’t.

leaves dirty laundry on the floor

Both of them on a regular basis.

stays up til 2 AM reading

Hmm. Gotta be Hawke. But sometimes they’ll both stay up until 2am doing other things.

Isabela. Loudly and phenomenally. Okay, maybe not that great, but she doesn’t care who hears.

Isabela. She would be so into that.

They switch off. It used to involve Wicked Grace, copious amounts of alcohol, and someone ending up naked. Now it’s a bit more subdued. Dancing on the deck of their ship in the moonlight or, if a modern AU, spending a weekend at a B&B near the ocean. 

Solas/Esme Lavellan:

falls asleep on the couch 

They both do.

makes friends with the neighbors

Probably Esme. She makes more of an effort to reach out than Solas does, and people are kind of drawn to her.

is the adventurous eater

Solas. He’ll try anything whereas she’s still more accustomed to Dalish food.

Hmm. They both do that. By morning, the blankets are on the floor anyway.

forgets to do the dishes

I imagine someone gets around to it eventually when there just isn’t any more room in the sink.

Esme. It’s a bit of a theme in their relationship, after all. Although Solas loves to show her new places in the Fade.

Both. Nerds. Solas might fall asleep a little earlier, however.

Lydia Tabris and Zevran? You got it. :)

Zev would hold the umbrella. Rain doesn’t really bother Lydia, but he would rather not get soaked.

Lydia is definitely grumpier in the morning. (Shianni used to throw water on her to wake her up, after all.) But Zevran doesn’t mind. He thinks it’s adorable.

Zevran worries more when Lydia is hurt, because it doesn’t happen often and he’s terrified of losing her. She doesn’t let her worry show much.

They both play pranks on each other all the time.

You know, I don’t think either of them would really suggest cuddling. It kind of just happens without being said. So maybe they both secretly love cuddling. Zevran is a little better at telling when Lydia needs it, though.

Lydia comes up with all manner of joke nicknames, none of which stick, while Zev’s are more consistent and genuine.

Zevran insists he doesn’t drool. He’s lying.

Lydia is the first to say she loves him. It’s still difficult for Zevran to say it. Maybe it always will be, but he’s determined to show his Warden exactly how much he loves her, even if he can’t express those feelings in words.
