Life is a series of choices, made consciously or unconsciously. The one most people expect Lyell to focus on was made the summer before his seventh year when Lyell started transitioning, but he considers his life so much more than that one choice. His choice to surround himself with trustworthy people has always seemed more important, as has his choice to devote his life to something that mattered. What’s a Gryffindor without a cause? Lyell’s is far outside himself and focused on others. As far as he’s concerned, that’s what everyone should do.
Feelings on Magical Integration
His parents were always quite clear about not degrading others because of perceived weaknesses. It’s not muggles’ fault they don’t have magic. It’s not their fault they have technology wix want. It’s not their fault this whole debate is happening. Lyell thinks it would be great to eventually see their worlds come together. He wouldn’t necessarily call himself an advocate going out of his way for the conversation, but if someone brings it up, he’s going to argue to do the right thing.

Vale Longbottom: Lyell and Vale are as much friends as brothers. Lyell’s always known he could trust Vale with anything. He’s lucky that way.
Louis Weasley: Lyell would be lying if he said he hadn’t always been a little bit in love with Louis, but he’s managing. He’s moved on with his life just fine, and Lyell values their friendship too much to ever jeopardize it over something like a Hogwarts crush.
Henrietta Goldstein: Some friendships are worth more than any credibility or edge in the world, and although Lyell didn’t end as roommates with Henrietta, they started that way. That was a friendship not worth shaking.
