Got a kind of promotion for my day job - so I’m making my biggest adult purchase yet and getting a bike! 🚲 I’ve been wanting one for a while, but hesitated because of the price of entry, and my incredible paranoia of investing that much money into something I leave on the city streets.

BUT I’M DOING IT! BIKE BY NEXT WEEK I SWEAR!!

Genuine exposure therapy to walk into a bike shop not knowing shit about bikes and asking for help. I was sweating like a sinner in church, and not for good reason since the guy assisting me was incredibly kind. It’s a worker owned bike shop I’ve known about for a while so I’m excited to give them my business.

He would hold the handlebars while I sat on the bikes and we’d both look down to watch my feet just dangle in the air like a limp rooster waddle - several times. Humiliating!! Try being my size Amy.. . you DON’T know how it feels.

I think he was clocking my queer nb tea because he would scoff at the Women’s bike classifications when we discussed the best frame sizes for me. That or he’s just based. I’m hoping it’s both.

I will update here when I decide on a bike! I’m excited to join the biking world as a car infrastructure hating, environmentalists dissident, Big-Oil-anti young person.
