Sum Up Your Success
This week The Lyfe Co. wanted to discuss something that remains extremely true to our lives and hopefully your’s too. The following quote not only has shaped our success, but all of our relationships and all of the successes we have seen in all areas of our Lyfe.
“You’re the average of the five people you spend most of your time with”. -Jim Rhon
I am sure many of you have heard this quote before. Hopefully this alone will help push negative people away from your lyfe and direct positive ones into it.
When I was in College, I had the pretty standard mentality to start off. I would Wake up, (barely) go to classes, eat, go to soccer practice, go home, eat, Netflix, homework (maybe), and then repeat. It wasn’t until I roomed with my lyfe long friend my sophomore year that things began to change. We learned about this quote and realized we had some pretty negative influences in our lives. Without knowing, we began to shift from the routine i mentioned above, to a routine filled with success through self development. The success we began to see went unnoticed by most but in the end these lessons have stuck with me since.
I partied! Do not get me wrong. I had so much fun. The things that changed were that those friends we drank with on the weekends, were just that. Friends we saw on the weekend. During the week and even weekend days we dedicated and motivated one another to get involved, join clubs, start clubs, and better yet develop into better versions of ourselves every day. As soon as this happened, amazing people began to flow into our lives and opportunity was endless. We were recognized by successful staff and faculty, professors and coaches. Our GPA never got exceptional (as in 4.0), but the mid 3.0 marks were consistent. Our extra curricular activities developed and soon our group of 5 could be pin pointed as successful and exceptional.
Each one of our immediate 5 pushed us to greatness. The biggest thing I hope you take away from this single example is this, be true to yourself, your goals, and pursue your dream lifestyle. Imagine this quote as a guide to measure your progress. If you look around and none of the people you surround yourself with are headed to a place you want to be someday, in one area of life, it may be time to recalculate how much time you spend with that person. Vice versa if you feel someone is doing what you hope to do, or has the level of success you strive to be at, reach out and be open to mentorship and learning from that person because you truly are the 5 people you surround yourself with.
Its as simple as weeding the garden, except this one just includes people. It may be difficult at first but this is your Lyfe.
Find your WHY.
Be the bright radiant flower in the garden. Become the best version of yourself every single day.
I hope you enjoyed,
-The Lyfe Co.
