hey! I'm trying to use your tut for static text but when I move the layers into frames, it copies every layer into a frame and not the single original text layer. Could you help me out with this please?
hmm anon this seems confusing to me
do you mean that when you move a text layer, reposition it, the text position takes effect on all layers? if that’s the case, do not use free transform in moving the text. just nudge them. just press ‘a’ (for the arrow command) then use the arrow button on the keyboard to move them. using free transform is like generally moving the text layer on a definite position for all the frames.
or
do you mean when you “create frames from layers” it creates separate frames for each layers you have? that’s really how it works hunnie. i suggest for you to make frames from layers first before you start creating text effect layers.
now if it’s the second incident, i suggest you to do this
1) delete the text layers-frames (in the timeline tab, not the layer tab) and leave all the background layers as frames. then select the first frame (frame #1) and turn on all the text layers. to make sure you’ve done that, click the ‘eye’ logo 3 times, so it’ll be turn on-then off-then on again. this will make that single layer visible on every single frame.
now you just have to turn off that layer on the frames you dont want it to be seen.
or
2) open a new canvas and copy all the text effect layer on it before deleting those layers from the original canvas you’re working on. then delete all frames except one, then use the “create frames from layers” option again so you can have your frames back. if you have a coloring group or filter, please transfer it as well to the second canvas.
then on the second canvas, enable (turn on) every single layer on it. then start dragging those layers back to the original canvas. make sure it’s on top of all the background layers.
if it’s a text layer, you can disable that layer on the second canvas then select the frame you want that layer to be seen on the original canvas before dragging it there and turning it on.
i’m sorry do i sound confusing? hahaha if you need more help, i suggest you send me a message privately (chat) so you can ask me directly ^^
a simple collage (gifs + photos) tutorial for my sweet krisinsanity.
hi hi! so, as requested by Jenn, I'm gonna make a tutorial on how to make edits like this post (and the one above). this is kinda long but i'll try to make the instructions informative as possible. im lame with this kind of things so pardon me trying.
let's start!
1. First of all, prepare your gifs. (Important! the gifs should have the same number of frames.) Note: if you're gonna make the gifs provide an allowance on the size. Example, if you want the size to be 270 by 200px make it 275 x 205 px. This is to avoid empty spaces that would look awkward once you put them all together. For the example above im gonna use a 540x600px (270 by 200px per image) canvas. If you want the canvas, I made a psd of it with guidelines equally dividing them into 6 parts.
2. For the collage of non-moving pics. Here's how to make mine.
> First, I dragged the photo file directly to PS, positioned and resized it the way I like it BEFORE CLICKING ENTER. Since I dragged it directly, I have to rasterize (right click on the layer > Rasterize Layer) the layer first before being able to crop it. Using the Marquee Tool (press M) I select the part I want then pressed Ctrl+Shift+I (Select inverse) then Del.
> Note: Before cropping apply your sharpening first. the edges of the photos looks odd sometimes (like if you use gaussian blur when sharpening it made the edges feathery which is not good).
It should look like this before pressing Delete. (the screenshots are inverted because i forgot to save this one and im too lazy to save screenshots of the second one D: )
Do the same thing for the next photos until you get this.
(the number of non-moving photos depends upon you. I'd make them 3:3.)
Apply your coloring on the photos, merge, then delete the empty parts. (If you use textures and colorfills the empty parts would also be colored so we have to remove them. ;;;; do you get me, IDK how to explain properly *flails*)
When you're done save the file as PNG. (you can close the psd too. :D )
3. Open all your gifs on photoshop (since I'm have 3, I'll have 3 files open as a total). Select one of them, randomly or the one you want to put on on the top and resize it to the whole size of the entire photo (which is 540x600px on mine).
Make sure the Timeline tab is open too.
Here's a trick I've been doing to save me from all the moving. I resize (Ctrl+Alt+C) it and keep it on the corner where I want it to be.
(i cant explain properly TT-TT) then it should look like this... TADAH (PCY is where I want him to be)
4. Now get that saved PNG of the non-moving pics and drag it directly on the opened and resized gif. Since the canvas size are the same, the PNG should fit properly on the opened gif psd. Like this..
Now now, can you see the finish product?!?!? yaaaay~! We're almost there.
5. Get to the second gif psd. To add gif image to another image here's how.
Select all the frames, then click on the part with the red circle and select Copy frames.
Go to the gif image with the nonmoving objects, SELECT ALL THE FRAMES (!! VERY IMPORTANT) Click on the part with the red circle again and select Paste Frames.
A dialogue box should come out. Select the Paste Over Selection then click Okay.
The gif should appear on the top left corner of the canvas.
When moving, select all the frames of the added gifs then press Ctrl+T then start dragging it to where you want it to be.
Do this to the third gif (if ever you have one).
(!!) Then find the non-moving pic layer and drag it to the top of all the frame layers.
When done with all the pasting and moving, your work should be able to look like this and you're all done!!! (claps to you and your patience!!!)
Press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S to save. Dont forget to select Forever on the looping option!
AND YOU'RE ALL DONE!!!
Here's how mine looks like. (I added the psd of the gifs after putting them all together. I kept the non-moving pic layer above the coloring I made so it wont have any effect on it.)
(im gonna make a post for this MCM collab too and all the other collabs and I just spoiled it hahaha, look at baekyeol in sync forever!! and then there’s Soo, the moving ones are my biases. why am I putting side comments here?)
There you have it! I hope this helped you Jenn, and everyone else who viewed this tutorial. If you have questions feel free to ask me! :D I'd reply to them if tumblr dont eat your message!
Good luck and have a nice day loves!
xo, Lyn
