She had slept through a lot of it, her brain warping her dreams to make the sounds of destruction make sense. With everything that had happened, waking Lyri had become an almost impossible task on the better days.
But it didn’t matter how her dream shifted, it never could quite make the crying sounds fit.
Slowly, she opened her eyes and frowned, head canted to the left as she listened for a moment. As soon as she realized what she was hearing, she forced her body from her current bed and stumbled to the door, using the walls as a support.
It was a small miracle she made it to the other room on her own, but the sight of Cam like that broke her already shattered hurt further. She didn’t want him to hurt.
“Cam?”
