Replies to big feelings abt contemporary artists who’ve passed on

I get EXACTLY this way abt wowaka’s works, esp knowing how complicated his feelings were about his success in the vocaloid scene and how people didn’t give him as much recognition as he deserved during his life
I truly regret looking back at how Vocaloid fandom, especially in the west, misunderstood and/or ignored the actual producers of songs at that time (which it seems that it’s better now, though I doubt entirely gone) I didn’t exactly help, but I was also. a child only old enough at the time.
But I also get,, Big Complicated Feelings over Wowaka’s works given they are a bit raw and depressed. The further away I get from my first listen of Rolling Girl and taking it almost literally but still understanding the narrative was a sad one, to now just....... fuck.
And I don’t know what happened, I haven’t Looked Into It bc I don’t know that it’s my place, and I will not presume to know anything going on in Wowaka’s head, but it struck such a sinking chord in me when his passing was announced, and I genuinely can’t listen to most of his stuff without the background thoughts of... this artist being gone. Being so good, being unrecognized for his greatest works in their greatest times, and then gone.

not to Bring Back Fandom Memories but I felt this way for a while about Monty dying back when I was still kinda into RWBY 😔
but God yea wowaka is SUCH a good example for this…
tbh you can bring those specific memories back bc this IS also about Monty for me. To this day, even though I’m LONG past RT as we all know, I will on occasion such as this think about his animation skills and legacy and how he never lived to see these days, even though I’m not even interested in what surrounded Monty’s life.
It’s nothing to do with what I have and haven’t drifted away from, it’s about all the artists I’ve known of and liked even passively in my two decades of life and still admiring their drives to create even when my interest in their works turns, but that intertwined with the fact that if they’ve passed on in my lifetime, I’ve seen all they’ll ever make. That I won’t stumble upon their work again and see what New Things they’ve made or been a part of after I myself moved forward too.
Something... something hurts, in thinking you can look into all of a person’s artistry, into all the works of someone who lived in your lifetime, and that there will be no more of what only they specifically could create.
Artists that have been dead for several decades or even centuries can still reach out to you in their works, but you know how far removed they are from your current life. For something to still be contemporary but its creator no longer here to make more... Well, I have deep dark feelings about death already, this just adds to the list.

yo if you liked that video you should look up similar videos like ‘Can I Beat Persona 4 Using Only Izanagi’ and 'Can I Beat Persona 3 Using Only Orpheus’ by Nyarly cause I’ve watched both and they made me feel batshit crazy in the best way- the MENTAL GYMNASTICS needed to do it is just … [chef’s kiss]
Oh, yeah, I’ve seen those around, lemme look into th--
Bruh.
[watches Nyarly lay out all the tech ordeals he had and rules of the challenge in the first 2 minutes]

Lyssa, I don't mean this as a callout, I just wanted to say EVERY time I read Kiryu, I DO think of my boy Joshua and not Mr. Kiryu Yakuza, and so this whole entire train of mistaken identity we're all on is Funny to me
