Memories came in flashes, confusing and disorienting. At first he’s lying in bed. Someone is holding his hand. They let go only for a moment to change the cloth on his forehead. It’s freezing, but his body is burning. He coughs, blood spattering his hand. Soon his body goes numb, as he falls into eternal sleep.
Death doesn’t seem to last forever. His body hits the ground and suddenly he’s gasping for air, crying out in confusion. A familiar loving voice reassures him. Looking around in his weary state he can see others near them. He’s exhausted, leaning against his love who’s holding him tight.
The other two beings begin to argue and his body starts to glow. It’s hot and painful. And just as suddenly as he was there, he was gone again. That didn’t last long either.
He’s returned once more to that strange place, wrapped in the arms of his love. The beings shift and change, becoming giant dragons. There’s a flash of bright light. The dragons are talking about something that his confused mind can’t quite make out. Once more he’s engulfed in fire and-
Oscar sits up, a scream torn from his throat as he sits up. He’s looking around in a panic, unsure of where he is. The boy takes in gasps of breath as if he’d just surfaced from almost drowning. He starts coughing, his body feeling unbearably hot, a couple tears falling from discomfort.
Once he’s calmer he falls back against the pillows, trying to catch his breath. He didn’t even notice someone was in the room with him.
