Being in academia is so weird, cause its like okay, as a grad student, you should be going to conferences and presenting your research. These conferences are in other cities, you do not get paid to go to them, and in fact they will cost you thousands of dollars to travel there and get accommodations. You should go to as many of these as possible and we, as a university, will maybe pay enough for you to go to one. Have fun!
