❝ Does it hurt when I touch it?-- Why are you so calm about this? ❞
Bruised and Broken / @cygnenoir No longer accepting.
Sometimes (re: most of the time), he wished life came with equipped with a reset button; one simple reset button that would rescind everything he’d ever said and done, that would undo everything completely.
Each time Gaeul touches him, she does so with the utmost care and caution; gingerly, tenderly. She treats him as if he’s fragile, as if each and every last bone and fiber in his body was made up entirely of glass. He assumes she does this because she’s afraid to hurt him, afraid to inflict further damage on the already bruised and broken boy. Though he does admit he’s appreciative towards everything that she’s done for him, he finds her method in doing so utterly irksome.
“Gaeul.” His voice is flat, void of any hint of annoyance he feels at the moment. “Hey, Gauel.” Taeyong calls out to her again, receives the same response as he did earlier: nothing. Sighing, vexingly, he lifts his head off his hand and captures her wrist, seizing her hand’s movement. As he draws the appendage away from the wound she has tenderly been tending to, his gaze falls over her own and he almost wants to laugh at the absurdity of her enquiry.
“Does it hurt when I touch it?”
“What do you think?” He drawls, blatant apathy manifesting across a mien once ruled by mild exasperation. “It does hurt, but it hurts more with your tentative touches. Either do it quick and get it done with, or I’ll do it myself.” He sets her wrist free and tilts his head back until it meets the couch, stygian hues fluttering shut. He wonders why he had even accepted her help in the first place as he normally declines the offers he receives. What had he done otherwise today?
“Why are you so calm about this?”
For the most part, his position remains unchanged as he passes his gaze over her own. Why is he so calm about this? He contemplates the answer and it’s simple: harboring injures was not necessarily a foreign concept to him. He’s gotten hurt before, endured worse injures than this. Taeyong’s grown accustomed to the feeling, to the pain. “It isn’t a big deal.” He shrugs, tucking an arm behind his head. “What’s done is done. There’s no use crying over spilled milk.”
