It had all happened so fast. It was cliche to say, and perhaps the understatement of the century, but it had all happened so damn fast that neither Nix nor Min had had a clue what was happening until it was too late - Until Nix was laying there on the ground, unmoving.
The screaming had been instant, hellfire engulfing Nix’s shirt, even catching onto some of his hair as he was knocked back and left burning on the ground. He’d tried to put it out, tried to roll, pat, even yank his shirt off, but it only burned hotter until his body began to give up on itself. Min had tried to help, had tried to get it out, sobbing out apology after apology. The stomach-churning stench of burned flesh was permeating the training space, hellfire still crackling away on Nix’s clothes long after his screaming had died down into bubbling chokes. Knelt beside burned body, Min could see the damage, could see the burns covering his entire torso, even curling up his neck and across some of his face. He could see the melted clothing, the charred flesh, the blood, the raw skin... He could hear the wet coughs, the senseless muttering... He could see it all, hear it all, even through the tears in his eyes and...
Oh god, what had he done?! What was he going to do?! He had no idea how to fix this! His father would kill him. Bo couldn’t help. He had no one else, no one... Unless...? A sob in his throat was all he managed before the pure anguish, the pure fear and panic flooded through him, exploding out in a scream.
“Help me! The one who... Who devours! Who.. Who Destroys, Who Desires, please!” The sounds were harsh, it burned his throat, tore at his lungs as panic flooded through his every vein. He could only hope that he’d gotten the names right, that it was enough. That they’d come, that they’d help, that they’d help save him.
