WHEN she looks at viktor, she’d like to pretend she sees only a good man.
she would be lying if she said that was the case. in viktor, she sees the potential for good, but also the potential for great. it had been this that first drew her to the man; his many other qualities had kept her around. for as much as she adored jayce, viktor fascinated her. never before had she seen such a desperate drive. like a man attempting to outrun fate.
“ you needn’t make excuses, ” she says, and offers a smile, a facsimile of friendship, “ it wasn’t an insult. ”
saunters further into the lab, not once removing her gaze from the man in front of her. “ in another life, you would have made a wonderful councillor. ” does she believe her own compliment ? is it, really, a compliment ? “ you and jayce both. though i’m certain you’re grateful that out of the two of you, he takes the political role. ”
