“don’t let them fool you, i have no idea what i’m doing ever.”
the man is laying on the ground, quite in the way, staring blankly up at the noon sun. he should get up. he’s been thinking he should get up for the last.... however long it’s been. at least ten minutes. who knows anymore. and okay, maybe ren is being melodramatic and there’s no real need for him to be this way, but people seem content enough to step over him (with the occasional confused glance), so he’s content enough to stay here. absently waving away a shadow that falls over him, the man mumbles something that might sound like, “it’s cool, i’m fine, move along.”
@lcsthearts liked for a short little lyric something (warren & carver)
“you can keep to yourself, i’ll keep out of your way.”
@writaer sent: ‘ honestly someone not liking beyonce is a deal breaker and not for any political reasons, but just like you’re probably, definitely really boring. ’ || Ren!!
ren considers it, but finds he’s not motivated for a debate considering he doesn’t actually care all that much. instead he just sips his coffee with a hum. “i don’t even have an ipod,” he comments. or whatever it is people use to listen to music these days. and frankly, usually he’s too far in his own head to hear whatever is on the radio whenever he’s somewhere it’s playing. “i’d like to be boring, though. i think kate would like if i was boring. i’m sure she’d appreciate if you were a little more boring too.” he knows it’s unlikely that either of them could be boring, but still.
@baeckett sent: how many people have a copy of this book? || Ren!!
warren doesn’t need clarification to know she’s talking about the book. varric’s book. the one that some person just tried to flag warren down to sign and he blatantly just pretended he had never heard about. that’s what he gets for giving his best friend permission to write about the ‘great hawke exploits’ or whatever words it was that varric had used. the man sighs. “more than i’d like,” he answers honestly. he’s pretty sure it was an instant best seller, but he doesn’t keep track of it. it’s not like everything written is accurate, but that doesn’t stop anyone from wanting to question him about it all, which is made more complicated by the fact that ren hasn’t even read it. “i’d burn them all if i could.”
@baeckett sent: ❛ i refuse to believe you’re that stupid. ❜ || ren
he sits staring with brows furrowed at the current crossword puzzle he’s attempting to do. it would probably be easier if he paid more attention to pop culture, but alas. it’s definitely a struggle. warren doesn’t look up at kate at her comment, not entirely sure if it’s due to his failure to fill out the simplest of answers in the puzzle or due to something he’s done recently that she’s just been informed of. could be both. even still, he just casually responds, “you should read varric’s book. i think that would change your mind.” not that hawke has read it, but well, he lived it, so he’s pretty sure the book would only make it seem worse.
@baeckett sent: [ arrest ] your muse finds my muse arrested in cuffs || for Warren!!
in his defense, it was an accident. and, you know, he’s defiant in the face of authority, so it’s only reasonable that the cops saw a dead guy, they assumed warren was the killer. and well, he was. but he had reasons. he’s not about to give away information to the cops, but he thinks it should definitely be more obvious that it’s not what it looks like. which is why when he sees kate hhis face lights up. “hi,” is his first response which, all things considered is far too casual for a man in cuffs waiting for interrogation. “can you help? i mean i could break out of these pretty easily but that looks bad, right?”
@lathal“ sent: nothing that happened is your fault.” @ hawke?
warren only gives the inquisitor a side glance, before returning to staring out over the mountains that surround skyhold. he’s sure she means well, but the champion is as much to blame as any for the world’s current situation. he doesn’t feel --- bad about that, per se. it is what it is. he holds the responsibility as well as any might expect, with a level of resignation and acceptance. always in the wrong spot, wrong time, solving problems that weren’t his to solve, causing more in the process. so he just drops a shoulder in a light shrug. “can’t do anything about it now, so it doesn’t really matter whose fault it is or isn’t.”
