I've always wanted to be a revolutionary. Not the kind of suburban kid on a libel arts campus with tattered copy Anarchist's Cookbook, Che t-shirt, and clove cigarettes, but the kind that performs a nocturnal coup that ends in classic defenestration and fiery defecation (that is, storm the palace at night and throw the cowering regents out a fourth-story window into a flaming pile of manure; q.v. Alexander and Draga, 1903). Mind you, I've never remotely acted upon this because I also always saw that even rock and roll was right about revolutions... meet the new boss, same as the old blah blah blah; in the vast majority of all cases, one oligarchy is exchanged for another. The take-to-the-hills armed militia path is rarely beneficial and usually fraught with racist undercurrents, and the sitting around with coffee and cigarettes talkin' 'bout a revolution ends when one would-be revolutionary hits on another one and they go fuck while the other (un)revolutionaries get hung up quibbling over minor ideological differences like whether Man—no, WoMan—no, Human—whether humans' basic nature is evil or not.
No, the revolution I'm more interested in involves not a direct assault upon the socio-political realm, but rather a coup d'état of consciousness in order so people would be prepared to govern themselves if given a chance and, perhaps more importantly so, would recognize that chance and want to enact the freedom of self-governance rather than remain enslaved to the spoon-fed ideology that being a frequently-active consumer of the state is the same as being a free-thinking citizen of the world. That that it is ethically wrong to participate in an open market and to strive for profit margins in a business, but when that participation and/or desire for profit comes at the cost of raping geography or humanity, then the ethics of that desire become somewhat entangled in the freedoms and cultural ideologies of others; as well as their flesh, blood, and bones which are littered through the midden heaps of history. Politics and ideology are two extremely addictive drugs. If you have too many different kinds, you're never gonna get going in any singular direction. Too much of any one, and you begin to crave only more of the same.
It's time to kick the habit.
I am the revolutionary who plants T4 in the soil of your conscience to destroy the garden of your reverie.
I will hijack your train of thought just as you fall asleep and ride it into the subconscious station where you must reschedule dogmatic belief before you may negotiate your return.
I will blow up the federal buildings of your apathy to collapse your lack of concern for others.
I will declare fatwa upon all prejudice.
Exterminate binary thinking. Understand there are always alternates to this or that.
I do not belong to any god or government.
Any and all god(s) and government(s) belong to me.
I've had them in the recycling bin for a while, but I don't wanna dump poisonous things like that in a landfill, something could get hurt. The time is now. Recycle God/Government for a paradigm that contains aspects of what has been—what we have learned—and re-inscribe the slate of this culture into something far more useful than what this current narrow and cliché selection has to offer...
