Dean doesn’t say anything as Sam packs his bag and leaves their family behind. It isn’t until Sam is on a cross-country bus that he finds the cassette tape lodged in the bottom of his bag, covered in Dean’s handwriting. It isn’t until years later that he really learns what it means.
