The funny thing about Reed and Hailey was that even though they ranted on and on about how they couldn’t stand to be in each other’s presence, they still found themselves working together, more and more really. They’re sitting in the studio again, on the floor, back to back from each other and working on their own thing for now. Reed’s just waiting for Hailey to gasp, then scribble lyrics down before he asks her if she has anything. He yawns, the fact that he hasn’t gotten any sleep finally catching up to him. Reed hears her chuckle a little, it’s because she had told him to get sleep but he knew she was going to be in the studio, so he came along. He yawns again and Hailey sighs, shifting position. Reed is so tired, he didn’t realize until the last second she was moving, nearly falling flat on his back on the floor of the studio. He turns around to see why Hailey moved, she’s perpendicular to him, her left hip next to his back. He just looks at her, but her eyes are still focused on the notebook she’s holding in her hand. She crosses something out, her eyebrows furrowing and he’s come to know that it means there’s a lyric she doesn’t like but doesn’t know how to change either. It’s probably the way she feels about him, he thinks, she furrows her brows with him a lot. He sits there, watching her for some time, still wondering why she moved from their rather comfortable spot. After a few minutes, Hailey finally notices he’s watching her and she sees the question in his eyes. She sighs, “You can sleep.” Hailey pats her leg, and he stares at the space for a bit. “Come on, thirty minutes since I don’t like it when my leg gets pins and needles,” she reiterates, and he nods, moving so he could rest his head on her lap. He closes his eyes and sleeps, her hand knotting through his hair. It’s nice.
