🤨 Sit down across from my muse -c4llofbrine for yoichi

Yoichi was sitting alone by the campfire when he felt a familiar presence behind him. His hands grew clammy, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. His heart raced before he even saw her. Then, slowly, out of the darkness around the edges of the campfire's light, appeared a figure in a white dress. Yoichi stared as she sat across from him. They were both silent.
It wasn't the first time he had seen her here. That had been his first trial. She had killed him. He could still remember the pain; it had been his first death. His arm broke. Then his leg. The overwhelming, indescribable fear. And then, everything went black, and in a heartbeat he was waking up in front of another campfire.
He'd died a few times since then. Been in a few trials. She hadn't been there for any of them. He had to assume the same was true for her. Yoichi was adjusting. Just like he always did. He stayed to the side and quietly adjusted.
He hadn't talked much to anyone, except Dwight, who went out of his way to check on Yoichi. He didn't really know what to say now. He was still scared. The same ghostly figure loomed large in his worst, half- suppressed memories. But he remembered releasing his fear to his father. And he remembered she had let him go once, before the rules changed.
They watched each other for awhile, silence thick between them.
"You're not supposed to be here," Yoichi said. It wasn't an accusation. Just a fact.
