rough designs for m1nx my detested!!! they/them for all three! design notes below the cut:
until now i've only really drawn dylan and roddy who we have canon pictures of, and in their case i just draw them in the same outfit we see them in for, ykno, character recognizability, you can tell i wanted to have more fun with these guys' 'fits
i figured giving them overt aesthetics would sort of defeat the vibe of hypnospace, that being that it's a place for people to live lives they can't really irl, plus the down to earth human factor makes designing these guys a bit of a tightrope in that making them look too... 'character design'-y? might quash that some. however i figured re3koning is the type of person to commit to the aesthetic, fitting their sort of chuunibyou thing... lots of zippers. reddish coat to contrast with dylan's blue - rusty, leaky piping!
swirly dreamy pattern on re3koning's...jacket-under-the-coat. just fits their aesthetic i think
dyed hair pinkish cuz i figured that would help tie things together with their pink text ingame, washed out however to make them more grody looking and of course to ground them a little, they strike me as someone who loses time and upkeep easily in investment in their projects
wanted all three of them to look unfulfilled in some way: jezz0 is creative and fun but stuck in a crushing tech job and so can only present the way they want via colorful glasses and socks, re3koning on the other hand is so involved in this edgy vigilante hacker look that it keeps them from coming off sincerely, dumpy_1 is just tired and doesn't have many prospects or real interests and is filling the void with meanness
jezz0 is the opposite of counselor ronnie - rounder glasses with thick corners, bonier and angular features rather than round cartoon friendliness, rounder hair going down instead of up, thick in texture to emphasize that also. boring work attire as opposed to the fun Totally Radical kiddie outfit
their glasses+socks have the pattern from the virtual shaman image
back hunched, working for merchantsoft does a number on their posture, also makes them look a bit more shifty/mean/leery hehe
was originally gonna give re3koning more of a stinkface but figured the prominent icy stare suited them more, both cuz of their eye motif and to show more of an intelligent hatred than the other two. still comes out a little with visible strain in their frown
dumpy_1 i wanted to channel snarky internet reviewers lol, gave them long hair because theres a LOT of men (well "men" in their case) with long hair in hso, and then just kinda gave them the nonbinary flag along the way cuz i see everyone in m1nx as nonbinary, checker pattern i feel suited their interest in music, i was thinking of ska checkerpatterns bwl, bit of a nerdy disposition - they're not above anyone else in hypnospace deep down
notepad for ideas, also cuz i imagine as dumpsterposting wanes down and they mention wanting to get into something more constructive, that something is drawing!
