[ID: A digital drawing of Re3koning_inc and Jezzo from Hypnospace Outlaw on their phones texting. Re3koning has dark skin, brown eyes, dark brown hair in an updo, red circle glasses, snake bites, and earrings. They wear a purple shirt and a leather jacket and respond to Jezzo saying "RELAX It'll be fun <3" with "DO NOT <3 ME." On the right is Jezzo laying on a pillow texting; they have pale skin, a green eye, braces, acne, rectangle glasses, curly orange hair, and a green tank top. They are texting and winking. /end ID]
read your recent xavier blog post and i really liked it. as a fan of the character and someone who understands him a lot, is there any moments of characterization that seem OOC to you or unfair to the character?
hi!! thank you so much 💜
(aside to the audience: link if you haven't seen that post...)
oh absolutely lol. i have a whole different essay planned on how ableism affects both the way charles is written and read. the prejudice's presence is evident from the first few xmen issues — the infamous jean panel that plays off the notion that disabled people (and disabled men in particular) are sexless and/or inherently unattractive and/or predatory
i have a lot of thoughts abt deadly genesis + onslaught + related stories. i believe that, when it comes to charles, writers feel a need to reveal "darkness" within him that goes beyond the longstanding storytelling exercise of "what if good character actually bad", and is actually an expression of their belief in ableist stereotypes about the supposed perverseness hidden within disabled men
on the reader side of things, fans validate the canonicity of these story beats in ways they don't validate others (kitty pryde saying the n word, etc) specifically because they also — consciously or unconsciously — believe in those ableist stereotypes
Did some designs for some of the other characters in Hypnospace Outlaw! The last person is the uncle from the experiment 342 page, though dunno if I like his design a ton. @daisybells assigned them names :)

So it doesn’t surprise Re3koning, in the end, that Roddy Wall spends New Year’s online. The kind of closeness that kills you of an irradiated seizure at age 26 and puts your name on international news is one that Re3koning is grateful to never feel. —— On the ill-understood subject Re3koning_inc knows as “friendship”.
(stumbles in five years late with a Gray's Peak™️) hypnospace outlaw is really good
i've been bouncing around so many different vague ideas for what i'd like to write about it, and then i really thought about roddy and re3koning sharing a zone, and then i really thought about ways they contrast, and then i really thought about m1nx and then i really thought about the mindcrash and then… well i'm here now bwl. enjoy!

[ID: A digital drawing of Roddy, Dylan, Jezzo, and Re3koning from Hypnospace Outlaw.
Roddy has pale skin, long blond hair, facial and arm hair, an earring, and green eyes, and he wears a black shirt with muleta on it along with a tauros pin and a transgender pin. He holds one end of a pride flag up with his right hand, has his other hand on Dylan's left shoulder, and looks at Dylan excitedly.
Dylan has curly hair, brown eyes, and light stubble, and he wears a purple turtleneck and a polyamorous headband. He looks nervously up at Roddy.
Jezzo has beige skin, curly orange hair, acne, a goatee, green and blue eyes, arm hair, a tooth gap, painted nails, and a cyber piercing. He wears a green sweater over a blue button-up, and he has genderqueer and pansexual arm warmers on his left arm. He holds up the other end of the pride flag with his left hand and has his right on Dylan's right shoulder and is smirking at Re3koning.
Re3koning has medium brown skin, dark brown hair slightly bleached blond up in a hairtie, black painted fingernails, and brown eyes. They wear rose-colored circular glasses, snake-bite earrings and several ear piercings, a magenta shirt, and a black leather jacket. They adjust a nonbinary pin on their collar. They look away from Dylan, but are holding his waist with their right hand. /end ID]
