VegeCapable Training

Last April 28 and 29, the SSD-International Field School of Urban Evangelism (IFSUE) had the VegeCapable Training and Workshop that was led by Pastor Abraham Carpena, SSD Health Ministries Director and Dr. Blecenda Varona, NeedHealth Consultancy Director. It was a fun-filled workshop because the program is dynamic and interactive.

Let me share my observations and thoughts:

1. Nutrition is very vital to our health and to the health of our community as well. Therefore through this topic, we have a great chance in reaching and connecting to other people.

2. I realized that we can do something like this in our church and community. And it is very relevant anytime and anywhere.

3. Activities of this sort can include: Nutrition and health lectures, health screening tests, cooking classes, counseling, and health education.

SSD-International Field School of Urban Evangelism

Last April 17, Thursday, the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) - International Field School of Urban Evangelism (IFSUE) started at the Conference Hall of North Philippine Union Conference in Pasay City, Philippines. This big event is a month long class and field work that will emphasize more on working in the cities. This is a program under the Mission to the Cities initiative of the Office of Adventist Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In the past few days, the speakers expounded on the topics on reaching the Chinese, Buddhists, and Muslims. Other speakers also talked about Adventist Community Services and Urban Evangelism. 

The One Year in Mission - SSD team is the manpower behind this event. And we are also official delegates for IFSUE.

SSD-International Field School of Urban Evangelism Day 2

The Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD)- International Field School of Urban Evangelism (IFSUE) continued its session on April 18, 2014 at the Conference Room of North Philippine Union Conference in Pasay City, Philippines.

The session started with a devotional message given by Pastor Edwin Gulfan, the Executive Secretary of South Philippine Union Conference. He emphasized on the Adventist church's current challenges to mission.

After his message, the delegates were divided by twos for the prayer band.

Then, Pastor Samuel Wang, the Associate Director of the General Conference (GC) Global Mission Center for East Asian Religions (CEAR) proceeded on to his lectures on "Presenting Christ in Asia Context" with "The Eden Connection" and "Phenomena and the Ultimate Reality" as the specific topics.

The SSD-International Field School of Urban Evangelism Begins

The International Field School of Urban Evangelism (IFSUE) started on April 17, 2014 at the Conference Room of the North Philippine Union Conference in Pasay City, Philippines. This one-month program is organized by the Office of the Adventist Mission of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD). This is also a part of the Mission to the Cities initiative of the General Conference (GC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The One Year in Mission - SSD team is also a part of this program.

The day began with a devotional message delivered by Pastor Doug Venn. He encouraged the IFSUE delegates to utilize Christ's method and to reflect the character of Jesus in their lives when working for the cities.

The orientation followed which addressed the IFSUE program, transportation, and finances.

In the afternoon, Pastor Samuel Wang, the Associate Director of the GC Global Mission Center for East Asian Religions (CEAR), discussed about "God, the Bible, and the Asia Context." These topics are designed to equip the IFSUE delegates on how to reach the Chinese.
