‘ desire is no light thing. ’ (to piper from christian xoxo)
Piper does not think it is a coincidence that the moment he spoke the words she had been thinking of the way his hand would bury itself in her hair, the way her whole body would relax with the simple gesture.
She finds herself feeling so immensely small and uncertain as her eyes raise up up up, for he is very tall and it makes her throat constrict, forcing her words out in a husky breath.
“No it’s not is it? I think we know that well. But…”
A heavy swallow, a timid raising of her eyes to his.
“… it was always worth it, wasn’t it? You and I, it was always worth the aftermath.”
“So, do you have any idea what you’re going to be for Halloween?” Piper asked, going through Halloween costume ideas on her phone. “I was going to be Harley Quinn but everyone is probably going to be her so. Might need to find something else.”

Piper hesitantly walked through the front door, her bag full of sketch pads, fabric swatches, every tool she had, seemed to weigh a ton. It was a relief to set it down, to down the rest of the red bull knowing there was plenty more to be had in her bag. Looking around she ignored the obvious problems with the property. Instead she tried to look at it through Christian’s eyes, what it was he could be seeing in this place. But she couldn’t, not without some insight from him first, some general idea that she could build upon. There was no doubt they worked well as a team, the properties coming out beautifully, it was something she took pride in. This was simply the only reason she had agreed to take on the job. It was something she had told herself over and over. The past was the past, and this? Well this was nothing but business.
Walking through and poking her head into the different rooms she finally found him in the kitchen. It was spacious and she could feel the possibility of it.
“Well then, now this I can certainly work with.” she spoke softly before snapping back into reality.
“Well, we should go over some of your ideas so I can have somewhere to start on my end.”
This was the plan, keep everything business, small talk to an absolute minimum. But there was a faltering when she looked at him.
“You know so I can get to work, because that's what this is, work, a job. w-o-r-k.” she spelled it out, cringing at the awkwardness of her own words.
*Tyler Creeps up in your ask* Where's Piper?
she is
right here and squealing from excitement
"Nooooooo", he rushes to Piper, then wraps her in a hug. He runs his hand over her head in a soothing gesture. "You're not broken, shhhh."
Piper doesn’t know how to deal with Steve’s words, with how close he holds it feels like
safety
and she has never known that, soft sobs pressed against his chest as she clings to him
“You don’t know the things that have been done----”
and she clings because never once has safety been tangible
but it is now
it is
