Late post but I still decided to put it here. Last April 9 to 10, I went back to my old hometown, North Caloocan to celebrate two separate occasions: return of a friend from abroad and the birthday of my little kin. I never really intended to stay there overnight but because we’re having so much fun that time and because I’m about 43,873,394 footpaths away from home, I just decided to stay there for more than 24 hours even without brushing my teeth and changing my Made in China brief.
Kevin Aznar: Live in Manila!
Kevin, a high school classmate and a cool homey has been working in the Middle East for about 2 or 3 years already and it’s his first time to come back home. So to celebrate his homecoming, he invited us over for a little reunion at Cariño Resort, just like the good, old times. The invitation was sent through our high school batch’s Facebook group and the moment I saw it, wala nang patumpik-tumpik pa, I decided to join right away. It was fun even if we were just 8 there, me, Aissah, Robert, Francis, Jake, Darryl, Raymund and of course, Kevin the tourist guy. Evidently, we swam, we ate some staple outing foods like inihaw na baboy and the like, we drank a bit of alcoholic beverages (sa wakas, natikman ko rin yung Tanduay Ice), we even played basketball in the pool. But the kwentuhan about our days in high school and much more, of course, is the best part of it.
Fuckin’ Bacardi (pronounced as Paken Bakarday)
After the swimming, we went straight to Kevin’s house at Dolmar Golden Hills. It was my first time to visit Dolmar since we moved to Laguna so I’m extra excited about it. We went there for additional intake of alcohol but this time around, the original Norkal Homeboys are around, Roden, Jhon Ray and Jigs. The other guys from the swimming went home already except for Aissah and Francis who were there to accompany Kevin home but eventually went home too. But kasama pa namin sila kumain ng isaw na libre ni Kevs. After that, Kevin brought out his apple-flavored bottle of Bacardi. From what I’m hearing, Bacardi is an anak-mayaman drink and the only thing I know about that drink is that, it’s a part of the lyrics of a Rolando Navarette hip-hop song. After that, Red Horse naman. Fortunately, I never showed my signature lasing skills. But still, I decided not to go home since I’m already tipsy. We just decided to stay at the Jhon Ray Pereyra residence overnight.
The Bloody Ma Ling Tin Can: Happy Birthday, Roden
Before we actually went to Jhon Ray’s bahay to sleep, we waited for him first to finish his Senakulo practice (by the way, the Senakulo will be shown at all leading cinema house on Good Friday and Jhon Ray will play the role of Jesus Christ). That’s around 10 to 12PM already. As a result, we got hungry because Bacardi and Red Horse are not a good source of vitamins and calcium. It’s not a food supplement to say the least. Thank Jesus (the Real One, not Jhon Ray), there’s a fishball cart and Roden treated us because it’s his birthday. Aside from those dirty fishballs, he also treated us to hot and spicy burgers from Burger Machine and also bought monay, softdrinks and Ma Lings before we actually went to Jhon Ray’s kwarto. There, we had the usual kwentuhan, the usual walang bastos na kwentuhan and we came up with the Bloody Ma Ling Tin Can story which I will not emphasize further because it’s too spiritual to tell. There came the new acronyms, GP and GC to join other pious acronyms from the Norkal Homeboys such as SSKK and YSF.
Happy Birthday, Miguel!
The original plan is this, supposedly, after the swimming, I’ll go home and after that, I will go back again to Novaliches by Sunday and go to my nephew’s Miguel birthday party at Remedios Resort. But because bandang Novaliches na rin naman, staying at Jhon Ray’s house to stay overnight is not a stupid decision after all. What I worried about is the lack of brief but luckily I survived and the people at the resort didn’t notice my overnight grime in the pool. The party was awesome. May chocolate fountain, spaghetti and other delicious party foods. After that, after more than 24 hours, I went home. Okay na okay pa kasi naka-van ang aming pamilya. Umarkila.
Thank you, Kevin Aznar, Francis Colendrino and Yey Tenchavez for the additional photos.
