Second Entry
#FalseFace
The king is dead. In his death Scotland has declared me king. I think everyone believed my performance. I am still unsure if I made the right choice. The blood of Duncan is on my hands. I betrayed my friend with the ultimate act of treason.
#TheBellInvitesMe
Earlier my conscience showed me an image of a bloody dagger, floating in mid-air. I think the apparition was trying to prevent the damage that would be done to my soul. The sound of bells woke me from this illusion, the time had come to kill Duncan.
#MacbethShallSleepNoMore
The guilt still lingers around me. Even my Lady Macbeth tried to shake me out of this state saying, “Consider it not so deeply”(Shakespeare 27). The servants gave a blessing as I passed and yet I was unable to say “Amen”. Have the Heavens condemned me to the farthest reaches of Hell where I have nothing to eat but my ambition and powdered meat. For this I will lose sleep. In my haste and guilt I failed to frame the king’s guards.
#O,Horror,Horror,Horror!
The night of Duncan’s death it was as if the earth had stopped moving. The servants at Inverness reported strange disturbances. The weather, that was once sunny, grew dark and sinister. (Go check out Scotland’s weekly forecast). Threatening wind crashed down upon my castle. After Duncan’s death, the sky blackened as if an ominous force had moved in. (Go to this website if there’s something strange in your neighborhood). Animals had been seen committing strange acts. Could this be because of my actions? Was this a sign from God? No, I am the rightful king. I must not reveal what treasonous act I have committed. I fear that many suspect me, but any in my way will suffer the same fate as Duncan.
#TheDeathOfAFriend
I fear that Banquo will discover the secret. He is my closest friend and he also saw the witches’ prophecies. The prophecies also said that Banquo’s heirs will be king. In order to secure my position as king I must do what is necessary, even if that means I must kill my friend. I will not be stopped, because the throne is mine and none shall take it from me. I hired three assassins to kill Banquo before he figures me out. (Go to this website and enter the code: Macbeth for 25% off any assassin hired). I wait and hope that they bring me good news of the death of my dearest friend Banquo. None shall stand in my way of achieving ultimate power. The prophecies have guaranteed that I will reign supreme. I am off to be crowned king of Scotland.
