SCOTLAND FOREVER!!
Third Entry
#MacbethEntersDressedAsKing
Today I was named King of Scotland. After the deaths of Duncan and Banquo, the sons of Duncan, Malcom and Donaldbain, fled to England. In their act of fleeing the blame was placed on them. This alleviated the suspicion of me being the murderer. Banquo, who I once saw as a threat, lives no more. I have secured my position as king. But I fear that the witches’ prophecies were correct and Fleance would overthrow me.
#WhatsDoneIsDone
The mental stress of this secret keeps torturing me. I would rather die than continue to suffer from the guilt that confines me. “ O, full of scorpions is my mind.”(Shakespeare 47) I see no end to this constant torture. Earlier today, I had delusions of Banquo’s ghost, sitting at the dinner table. My fear and guilt forced me to call out Banquo’s name. How could Banquo be here? The assassins proclaimed him dead. No one else was able to see the ghost who stood in front of me. Was my mind playing tricks on me or was there some supernatural force? Have I gone too far? Can things return to what they were before? I must make things right. I will go visit the witches, in hope of receiving good news.
#BewareTheThaneOfFife
After seeing Banquo’s ghost I decided to visit the witches. I was shown three apparitions that told me my fate. The first apparition was an image of a knight who warned me of Macduff. The second apparition was a bloody child, this supernatural being told me that none of a woman born will harm me. The third and final apparition was of a crowned child grasping a tree. He informed me that if I were to be defeated, all of Birnamwood would have to seize Dunasinane Hill. (Click this link to learn more about Birnamwood). This news excited and focused my attention on Macduff. It was then that I knew Macduff had to die. When I returned to the castle I instructed my assassins to kill Macduff and his family. The assassins sent me a letter a few days later. In the letter, they talked about how Macduff fled to England, but they were able to slay his wife and children.
#DarkTimes
It appears as if my wife is beginning to go crazed. I have met with numerous doctors to try and help her before she tells our secret. Times are unsettling, the threat of England invading looms over Scotland. My scouts tell me that the English army is moving to strike Dunsainane. What shall I do? How do I stop an army of this magnitude? Not to worry, the witches have proclaimed that none of woman born shall harm me. I am off to battle those who oppose Scotland. My name is Macbeth and I am the King of Scotland.
Banquo Must Go.
“Long Live The King”
Second Entry
#FalseFace
The king is dead. In his death Scotland has declared me king. I think everyone believed my performance. I am still unsure if I made the right choice. The blood of Duncan is on my hands. I betrayed my friend with the ultimate act of treason.
#TheBellInvitesMe
Earlier my conscience showed me an image of a bloody dagger, floating in mid-air. I think the apparition was trying to prevent the damage that would be done to my soul. The sound of bells woke me from this illusion, the time had come to kill Duncan.
#MacbethShallSleepNoMore
The guilt still lingers around me. Even my Lady Macbeth tried to shake me out of this state saying, “Consider it not so deeply”(Shakespeare 27). The servants gave a blessing as I passed and yet I was unable to say “Amen”. Have the Heavens condemned me to the farthest reaches of Hell where I have nothing to eat but my ambition and powdered meat. For this I will lose sleep. In my haste and guilt I failed to frame the king’s guards.
#O,Horror,Horror,Horror!
The night of Duncan’s death it was as if the earth had stopped moving. The servants at Inverness reported strange disturbances. The weather, that was once sunny, grew dark and sinister. (Go check out Scotland’s weekly forecast). Threatening wind crashed down upon my castle. After Duncan’s death, the sky blackened as if an ominous force had moved in. (Go to this website if there’s something strange in your neighborhood). Animals had been seen committing strange acts. Could this be because of my actions? Was this a sign from God? No, I am the rightful king. I must not reveal what treasonous act I have committed. I fear that many suspect me, but any in my way will suffer the same fate as Duncan.
#TheDeathOfAFriend
I fear that Banquo will discover the secret. He is my closest friend and he also saw the witches’ prophecies. The prophecies also said that Banquo’s heirs will be king. In order to secure my position as king I must do what is necessary, even if that means I must kill my friend. I will not be stopped, because the throne is mine and none shall take it from me. I hired three assassins to kill Banquo before he figures me out. (Go to this website and enter the code: Macbeth for 25% off any assassin hired). I wait and hope that they bring me good news of the death of my dearest friend Banquo. None shall stand in my way of achieving ultimate power. The prophecies have guaranteed that I will reign supreme. I am off to be crowned king of Scotland.
The perfect plan to become the perfect King. The easiest way to get away with murder is to frame the King’s guards.
First Entry
#FoulAndFair
“So foul and fair a day I have not seen.”(Shakespeare 6). I spent my day on the bloody battlefield fighting those English scum who dare try overthrowing Scotland. It was a hard battle, but never did I let my sword rest, for defending Scotland is my only concern. The battle raged on for hours upon hours and no end was in sight. To make matters worse we received news that English reinforcements were approaching. Nevertheless, I kept fighting until only we were left standing. Victory is ours! Many proclaimed me a hero. It felt good to finally rest and be able to catch my breath, to see that Scotland still stood tall on this bloody battlefield.
I set out with my closest friend Banquo and met three witches. These weird witches brought an atmosphere that was both frightening and intriguing. They greeted us with strange prophecies telling me that I will become Thane of Cawdor and then King of Scotland. (This link will tell you all about Cawdor, so I invite you to read up on the history). I was so shocked by this news that at first I felt skeptical. How could I, Macbeth, be King? This cannot be true, but in fact the work of the devil. But before I could question them, they vanished into thin air. Questions rang through my head like church bells. At that moment I heard the thundering sound of horses, drums, and trumpets. Duncan’s men had arrived to tell me that I have been named Thane of Cawdor. I was appalled by the news. “What, can the devil speak true?” (Shakespeare 8) Will I become King of Scotland? After hearing the news I was ecstatic. I must do what is necessary to remove Duncan from the throne he sits on. My fate shall guide me to power. Later Banquo and I were greeted with cheers and praise. The king was in attendance as well. King Duncan thanked us for our efforts. A banquet was arranged at Inverness, where all would attend to celebrate my promotion. (Click link for a cool tour of my castle.)
#Stars,HideYourFires
I sent a raven to my wife explaining recent events and my intention to kill Duncan. I pray no one discovers what horrible thoughts I am thinking. She was thrilled by the news. However, I worry about the consequences and their effect. Is this really worth it? I had come to the realization that my ambition could cause trouble if I rush. I confronted Lady Macbeth to inform her that I would abandon the plan to kill Duncan. Lady Macbeth, disagreeing with my new decision, insulted my manhood. After discussing with Lady Macbeth I decide the death of Duncan is a necessary action. We came up with a plan to frame the King’s guards. I set off to slay Duncan.
