The Death of a Good Friend
This post I’m dedicating to my best childhood friend.
His name was Ingo, a very German name which you’ve probably never heard of before. Even though he was 5 years older than me, we had a great time playing video games, watching movies or TV shows at his home which I frequented at least once a week.
I identify with his death so much since he lost both his parents to cancer by the age of 16. The same thing has happened to me now that I’m 24. Sadly he couldn’t handle it and devolved into a drug and alcohol addict which eventually killed him.
I hadn’t heard from him in years when I heard he died of an overdose and was found dead in his home, he had no friends to help him, no family to speak of and it was inevitable that he’d die because he had little to no support.
I still am wondering why he never got in touch with me, maybe it was the age difference, I really don’t know, but I regret not having talked to him for that long.
We had so much fun as kids, he introduced me to Pokemon when it was brand new, we’d play the first GTA games on the original Playstation and he even introduced me to one of my favorite franchises called Harvest Moon.
If I believed in any deity I’m pretty sure he would’ve ended up in heaven or any analogue for it, but that’s obviously not what happened.
Here’s to you Ingo, I’ll never forget the good times we had and I’ll never forget your outlook on life even when it went downhill fast.
May you rest in peace.
