Peruvian archaeologists decry new airport that would carry tourists directly to already fragile Inca citadel
Very bad news from Peru today...
The airport would be built near the town of Chinchero, allowing for more visitors to the Machu Pichu - already suffering from tourism - and destroying its traditional Inca landscape. There's also a risk that the constant flight of planes would damage archeological sites in the region, including the Machu Pichu itself.
