This is a union special 51200C. It’s original intended purpose was for seaming mattresses but somewhere along the way someone decided it would be better for binding apparel. I got it a while back in hopes to switch it back to heavy duty single needle chain stitching. However, since I made a few masks, the binding set up came in handy. I also attached a picture of the foot that came with the machine, but it was too wide to use with the binding attachment that I wanted to use. So naturally I #MacGyvered a foot so that it met my needs. The binding attachment can be found on eBay for 9-40$ (sometimes with free shipping). I never did a lot of binding before this past week. But I’m actually really enjoying the process so I think I might keep the set up for a while instead of trying out one of the other 50 machines that are waiting to be set up!! Also, I’ve named the machine John Travolta for the time being. If anyone has a better name for it I’d love to hear them! . . . #sewingmachine #binding #industrialsewingmachine #unionspecial #viapiana (at Viapiana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_lGXHMHgP5/?igshid=12dzd301qbso
