Machi Action

This is not Kamen Rider

It’s Machi Action, a 2013 Taiwanese “tokusatsu themed” comedy, and it’s absolutely wonderful. There’s some great humor.

There are some surprisingly beautiful, creative shots and storytelling of the people behind our spandex clad rainbow vomit superheroes.

The characters come to life so much more in this hour and a half than in some 50 episode shows, they all have their own goals and motivations.

Some fun asskickery because why not?

And poking its head out through the humor is the movie’s huge heart and pretty touching tale that played my heartstrings like a fiddle.

There’s so much going for this movie and I love it. Machi Action is not “good for toku” or anything like that. It’s just good. So stop reading this and go watch it. Have a link. I’m out.

Love, Stolen, Machi

Last night I stayed up later than usual to watch a movie called Love is Not Blind starring Bai Baihe and Wen Zhang. I really had no expectations for this movie but for some reason I really liked it. It's not really exceptional and it didn't really stand out from other movies, but it left an impression on me. Maybe the simplicity was what made me like it. I quite liked the female lead, Huang Xiaoxian played by Bai Baihe. She kind of reminded me of Taeyeon from SNSD, I think it might have been her hair. I disliked the male lead, Wang Xiaojian at first but as the movie went on he started to grow on me. Anyways, it was a nice movie and I give it a 7/10.

Since I liked Bai Baihe in the last movie, I decided to watch another one of her movies to see if her acting was still up to par. I watched The Stolen Years with Joseph Zhang. I decided on this movie because it was one that I had previously thought of watching but then never did. Her acting was still good, maybe even better and Joseph Zhang was also good (this is my first film for him). The ending was not what I was expecting at all. The first half of the movie was pleasant but then once I got to the second half it was really sad. I'm not one for sad movies. It was really heart-breaking because of the sacrifices they had to make and what they had to go through. I would not watch it again because it was sad. I give this movie a 6/10.

Since I was on a movie-roll I watched another movie, called Machi Action. The only reason I watched this movie was to see Wilson Chen Bolin. It wasn't a very good movie and not worth watching. It was rather weird and a little boring. It was nice however to see so many celebrity cameos such as Kai Ko, Vaness Wu, Jaycee Chan and Vivian Hsu. I give this movie a 3/10.

I'm taking a break from studying and decided to watch Machi Action with Bolin Chen. This movie is really good. It building up to the drama but I'm loving the story line,the actors and the characters. Puff Kuo is in this too I was like WHERE'D she come from when she appeared on screen...lol So far I recommend it. I'll edit this and let you know how I feel after I finish it.

Thought 变身超人 Machi Action was going to be just a comedy. Well, It’s not just a comedy. It’s an awesomely nostalgic and touching comedy! 5/5

Saw Machi Action at Fantasia Film Festival... this film is not just a comedy or a satire, it's also very heartfelt and honest... a must-see for Taiwanese film lovers!!! (as a matter of fact a must-see for all Asian cinema lovers ;))
