I was given some absolutely adorable strawberry fabric and could not resist cutting into it. I normally don’t do quilts that are just squares, but the fabric was just asking for something sweet and simple. This was an under 48 hour finish thanks to a piece of batting in my stash that was juuuust big enough (can you see the mere millimeters of spare in the second photo).
To challenge myself a little, I did try a new method of machine binding where I sew the binding to the front then wrap it around and stitch in the ditch to catch it on the back. This gave me a really consistent binding width on the front and back which I usually don’t get when I pull to the front (granted, I don’t usually clip it so that might help with that method). The only spot where I didn’t manage to catch the binding blind on the back was at the corner where I had a join in the binding. Don’t tell the quilt police, but a lot of times I don’t check in advance if my joins hit corners, and when they do… well, I just have a corner that is a little bulky.
