I finished watching the 1997 machine embroidery video from that VHS post and it was really interesting! So much stuff I haven't tried or even thought about!
She made these flowers and baskets just with careful placement of a wide zig zag stitch. I think they'd look very striking in all black thread.
And these trees are a combination of straight stitch and zig zag
and my favourite was these spiderweb holes. The guest she had on wore this intriguing purple & black vest in an earlier segment and I'm so glad we got a closer look!
Really great look at how much you can do without a fancy embroidery machine. I've never made anything using dissolvable stabilizer but I sure would like to sometime!
My machine doesn't do zig zag, but I have a free motion foot and have done a little bit of quilting with it, it's not a feature limited to new machines.
(I do also like doing hand embroidery, and it would be fun to combine it with free motion embroidery.)
I'd never heard of Sewing With Nancy but there are some more episodes on the archive which I'll probably watch too.
Sooo, I made a thing
And I am pretty proud of the thing
But it took literally forever, and making things unfortunately costs money 😭😭
So if anyone would like to check out my Ko-Fi, maybe browse the shop, or leave a tip it would be very much appreciated, because I would like to continue doing these kinds of things!

Also, I am gonna work on writing a whole blog post about the process of making the above thing. Spoiler alert, it took forever.
Edit to add: link to the blog post
Coco Yang published a post on Ko-fi
