     he's  always  vaguely  uncomfortable  when  angels  are  about .  (  excluding ,  naturally ,  the  one  exception .  )  especially  when  angels  are  about  in  his  vicinity .  double  especially  when  angels  are  about  in  his  vicinity ,  and  seem  to  have  spotted  him .  he  always  worries  that  one  of  them  will  have  noticed  his  and  aziraphale's . . .  closeness  (  if  that's  even  the  word  for  it  ---  they  seem  to  be  too  close  but  all  the  same  too  far  apart  )  and  is  coming  to  punish  him .  (  aziraphale ,  not  crowley .  he's  not  really  that  afraid  for  himself .  never  really  has  been .  )  so  when  this  angel  approaches  him ,  he  looks  around  awkwardly  (  almost  guiltily  )  before  waving .  ❝  oh !  er ,  hello .  ❞    a  beat .  ❝  come  here  often ?  ❞    oh ,  come  on ,  crowley .  be  cool  for  once  in  your  life .

heagreed, with a gulp and gluing hiseyes to the ground. he needn’t say that he had witnessed the whole affair,flagellation, weeping mother and all. upsetting couldn’t even begin to describe it. it was, however,ineffable. and, if he had to be quite honest, not the most upsetting thing The Almighty had conceived as part of TheBig Ineffability. there had been that unpleasantness with noah and the RainBow. she just hadn’t been around for that one. and yet! and yet upsetting couldn’t even begin to describe it.because it is tragic. because it is frightening. because yes, it is ineffable! and because it isineffable he can’t question it. he can’t question it and he can’t understandit. he can only let it happen, if hemust, and hope it happened for the best.

brieflyhe wonders if she wonders the same thing, after moments like this. if she asks “yes?”because she also doesn’t, can’t know what she’s supposed to be feeling. if that could be the reason she’s tellinghim the news at all, when they all know. they could all feel it, when he died. the gloom. a shuddery, horrid thing to feel.do tell him, if they should be feeling it at all. if that is Your Plan.  ‘best not to ponder on it. The Almighty does as The Almighty deems best, as usual’

' Why so sad, bunny? '

“Why bunny?”

It took all she could to not roll her eyes, to not show how annoying she found the nickname. Yet another visitor from heaven. Just what she wanted to see today. She had been having a rough day, and this certainly wasn’t making it better. For fuck’s sake, she just wanted to get her coffee and go on her merry way.

Gotta love ethereal beings. Almost worse then occult ones.

he’s a simple angel with simple tastes: EVERYWHERE, but the human way. he hasn’t left london in quite a while, since the 1800s at least, and when he has it’s only been for very short 1-2 day trips. so much has changed all across the world! france, ireland, greenland, denmark, spain, turkey, istanbul --- if given the chance, he’d go to every single country in the world just to sniff around and sample foods and relax. and he might as well try things the human way for once, since he loves them so much; tranquil train rides and long drives that he can read during sound lovely to him.

some places in particular he wants to visit:

kaimu beach, united states --- black sand beach, and a relatively new one at that, that volcano only erupted in 1990! for someone as long-lived as he is, that’s just a blink of an eye! he loves newly-made places.

salar de uyuni, bolivia --- he hasn’t spent much time around south america, but the last time he heard the name mentioned it was an enormous lake, and now it’s a salt pan full of flamingos, which he's quite fond of!

die rakotzbrück, germany --- i mean, it’s the devil’s bridge, and it’s beautiful on top of that. one of his favorite side-hobbies is looking up places named after hell and the devil, it’s ironic and fun.

eternal flame falls, united states --- again, of course. it’s a little nostalgic, really, because he never did find out what was done with the flaming sword before war ended up with it, and sometimes he thinks it’d be fun to find out if that’s where it ended up.

vincunca rainbow mountain, peru --- first of all, because he’s gay and it’s the last day of pride month, so jot that down. magnificently colored mountains, and he can’t even remember who made them! the best part is that the humans haven’t managed to put an explanation to it, either! it’s very Mysterious and beautiful!

mendoza, argentina --- good wine scene, it’s just his kind of place!

richat structure, mauritania --- he hasn’t been there in a long time, it’d be nice to see how it’s aged. and he’s not allowed to say why he was there the last time, it’s a heavenly mandate. but when you know, you know. ;)

cat island, japan --- i don’t need a description, you cat-lovers out there get his reasons. and mine.

aside from all those places, he just wants to see some different oceans. the beach is wonderful to him, a place where humanity can brush up against so many different forms of life that has developed so incredibly differently from them. the beach is his favorite example of all god’s creatures, great and small, because the variety of life there is just so vast!

aziraphale  smiles  a  lot.   most  who  know  him  ---  or  at  least  fraternize  with  him  ---  have  learned  to  tell  the  differences  between  each  one.   the  My  Sushi  Is  Ready  smile  is  the  most  common  variation,  followed  closely  by  the  I  Found  A  First  Edition  Of  Trumpet  Of  The  Swan  smile.   the  Having  A  Talk  With  Corporate  smile  isn’t  really  a  smile  so  much  as  it  is  a  well - practiced  façade,  and  never  actually  meets  his  eyes.

this  smile  is  .  .  .  something  else.   something  sadder.   like  happiness  and  misery  are  having  a  row  behind  his  pale  grey  eyes  and  won’t  settle  for  love  or  money.   HERE,  NOW,  is  the  kind  of  acceptance  he’s  always  craved,  something  that’s  almost  a  reward  for  all  the  agonizing  decisions  that  he  couldn’t  predict  the  result  of  ---  and  he  simply  can’t  agree  to  it.   it  wouldn’t  be  right.

        ‘ my  dear  girl  .  .  .  ‘      the  words  stick  in  his  throat  and  aziraphale's  his  hands  enclose  one  of  hers,  squeezing.   silently  thankful  in  all  the  ways  that  he  can’t  say.      ‘ i  rather  think  my  days  of  fighting  are  PAST,  now. ‘
