The third and final illustration from my international travel series is probably the most magical place I’ve been to: the tiny town at the base of Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes, Peru. . ⛰ Only accessible by train, we watched the landscape change before our eyes, from dry desert in Ollantaytambo to dense jungle as we went up into the mountains. This little place was definitely catered to backpackers and travelers, but it didn’t feel too “Americanized.” The buildings sit stacked, around the flowing water and the streets are solely for pedestrians. It felt like I was dropped into fiction.
