hiii do you have any stories, fun facts, lore or anything really about lane hutson and mack friendship???

Ohhh anon great question! I asked a BU bud to help with this, so here's what we've got:

BU-Era: So I know I've written at length about how it was well known that Mack struggled socially with the team his freshman year...well, would you believe that there may have been a player who was worse at it than Mack, and that that player was none other than Lane Hutson??? Much like Mack, Lane also went extra hard at practices and would run into issues with teammates, and socialized even less with a lot of the guys then Mack did, although my friend did mention that Mack "looked at Lane like he walked on water" regardless of his issues (and I will say if you ever watch any BU-era interviews of them you can definitely see the fondness eyes). They also said that they had a sweet friendship, not as codependent as he had been with Jayden or Will, but Mack very much admired Lane and Lane was extra soft on Mack.

NHL: Some lore includes that Mack took Lane out to dinner before one of the first games they played against each other, and that Lane said in an interview that he couldn't help but smile at Mack the first time they played against each other on the ice, and of course Mack smiled back. Lane also obviously speaks very highly and kindly and Mack notably praises Lane using similar language to how he talks about other players he holds in high regards, like Crosby and Quinn Hughes. They've also hung out at subsequent Beanpots, and definitely partied together with the team after they won in 2025!

The real person Will needs to worry about is Lane Hutson because Mack’s massive hockey crush on him is both well known and adorable

and it’s also well documented that Lane was kinda soft on Mack where he wasn’t with others and then of course we have the infamous dinner date those two had as rookies… hmmhh, much to ponder 🤔

Absolutly loving this, Mack’s harem deserves far more attention.

In truth though the way Mack seems to inspire such gentle behavior in these tough hockey players is frankly adorable. I really do think his cuteness wins them all over the second they meet. That and the mad skills, of course. Double whammy
