Eight Months of Maclain

How in the world is our little butterball eight months already? So much for monthly updates! Such is life as a second child, right. Don’t let the lack up updates fool you though, Maclain is just the best. 

Each morning when I go in to retrieve her form her crib, she smiles so big that her paci falls out. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day, even if it does come too early some days. But early or not, she truly is a champion sleeper now (praise the Lord). She goes down at 7 & is up around 7 most days with several naps throughout the day. Today she slept until 9:15. Bless you, tiny human, bless you! 

It was so secret that I was convinced that there is no way my second kid would be easy (because who deserves two easy babies? NO one), but I was wrong. This little lady is the sweetest, yet has some spice to her for sure. She’s a little lady with a mission, that mission being to keep up with big sister! At 7 months, she started crawling. SUCH a fun milestone, but I wasn’t expecting it for a few months. It’s so cute to watch because she seems to be so methodical about it. Each little move of her arms & legs is slow & calculated. This however is opposite of when she’s on any bed. She’ll barrel roll across the entire bed so quick that you don’t even have a second to think. 

Maclain is enamored by Perry & watches her every move. She’s much more interested in Perry’s toys than her own as if her own are entirely too childish. Watching their relationship grow is just about my favorite thing in life. Perry does on Maclain (except when she’s taking her toys) & Maclain literally crawls all over Perry every chance she gets. 

Aside from her love for Perry, this little lady loves her momma (be still my heart). She loves to be worn all around town in our Solly & it’s definitely our favorite means of baby transportation. If Perry isn’t around, she either wants to be worn or propped up on my hip. When she’s upset, momma. If she’s laughing uncontrollably, momma. But when she wants to talk, dada. She mummbled her first word (Dada) for him on his birthday last week. Go figure... Perry was making him a video singing Happy Birthday and right at the end when I panned over to Maclain, she said “dada!”. Just the best & perfect birthday surprise. 

On her 8 month birthday, she got two new teeth (on the top) to add to her toothy little grin rounding out at a total of 4 teeth. Teething is a bit of a bear, mainly because she wakes a few times (& my boobs are now raw) but we’re surviving. 

Like the rest of her family, baby girl loves to eat! She favors any puree with spinach & certainly let’s you know if she doesn’t like what you’re feeding her. She has a tendency to grunt if we aren’t feeding her bites quick enough, so we may need to work on our manners! While she’s great at eating, she’s not great at taking a bottle... as in she won’t take one which makes things a smidgen more difficult. I’m not sure why she decided that a bottle will no longer do, but she did and acts as if she’ll choke if you give her one. Have any of you gone through this? If so, I’d love suggestions!    

Maclain, you are the bees knees. You’re petite yet have the most delicious thighs. You’re the perfect combination or curious & content. You often have a look of concern on your face, but when you smile, it lights up the room. You are the greatest little companion & make each day more fun. I’m so glad you’re mine.
