Macmillan Collector’s Library editions are tiny, but are very readable. The gold sprayed edges make them look luxurious. The cover designs are unique and the Tiffany blue color stands out on the shelf. Did I mention they feel nice and light in the hand. I’m fond of them. #LibraryofAmerica #EverymansLibrary and #MacMillanCollectorsLibrary editions are of great quality. Not only are they beautiful on the shelf; they are made to last. LOA often have sales on their website. My books always arrive in a sturdy well packed box. It’s comforting to not worry about damage. Folio Society books are also a favorite. However, they are a treat due to cost and shipping. I’ve been very lucky, in the past, to have found a few EML editions at my local #Goodwill in great condition. I love the new postcard size hardbacks from #macmillancollectorslibrary - gilt edged pages - nice and compact. Will be great for when I’m travelling again. Received MOBY DICK - HERMAN MELVILLE today. To go with my Don Quixote. I have Peter Pan and The War of the Worlds coming in next few days. Good value as only between £7 and £9 each (rounded up). A sunny afternoon, glorious red roses and a zeitlos classic which I first devoured at the age of ten. Sounds like a perfect late afternoon, doesn’t it? Indeed it is. Alongside Upstream written by Mary Oliver, I’m rereading The Secret Garden written by Frances Hodgson Burnett and I’m loving it even more this time round. There is a depth to The Secret Garden which makes it rightfully a classic.
